Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- matthew d2 contributionsMy Dad and I went to the Ashmolean in Oxford. The Ashmolean is a big museum of art and archeology. We went to the Money Talks exhibition. The Ashmolean building feels like a smaller British Museum. Their is a projection in the entrance which shimmers like water. When I walked through the projection it made me feel like I was walking on water. In the Money Talks exhibition I enjoyed the Edward 8th set of coins,I was a very lucky person to see this set because there are only four sets in the world.
As well as the featured exhibition went to see the rest of the museum: I saw the Egyptian, Grecian, and Roman exhibits. I learnt that the Roman’s mummified their emperors. I really enjoyed my visit to the museum. Therefore, I would like to return in the near future.

Marie Kondo would have a hard time in this place- which is why everyone should visit it.. Museums present collections according to the beliefs of a society. That there was a time to collect and frankly take what one can- should be presented as cleanly and self-consciously as possible, without apologies.
Context matters and the Pitt-Rivera does that. It’s worth a trip to Oxford for that. Anyway- who is Harry Potter?Written 20 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - NatOttawa, Canada160 contributionsA must visit when in Oxford. I learned a lot from the tour. The house is quite big and it was heartwarming hearing about the many stories of CS Lewis' life and the lives of people around him. The tourguide said that perhaps the peaceful country life gave CS Lewis the inspiration to write all his great works. I totally agree.
Make sure you make reservations in advance because this is not a museum and people actually live here. You're allowed to take photos (but not up close of certain photos due to copyright), just not videos. The fees are reasonable - there are prices for seniors too. There are no Ubers in Oxford so we booked a cab to get here. It was easy. We didn't have time to go see his tomb though, maybe another time.Written 4 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Apparently it is going to be rehoused soon, in the new humanities area.. Currently the collection has the lovely characterful feel of an old museum, and I fear that it will loose its atmosphere. I was sorry to hear that the portraits of composers will no longer be displayed alongside the instruments, as they belong to the Faculty of Music and are not formally part of the collection, despite adding enormously to the historic atmosphere. We borrowed a small device that allowed recorded music to be played by keying in a code, indicated by the relevant instrument. A delightful visit, but I fear for that delight. Please don’t destroy the ambiance of this place, and cause the Bate Collection to ‘fade into the light of common day’ when it moves.Written 7 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - christiano_10Tczew, Poland554 contributionsThis House is simply a sanctuary for all fans of C.S.Lewis. Remember to book a tour in advance, at least two weeks. If you miss it, don't be afraid to ask the people living inside any questions, they are all extremely friendly. I was lucky to meet Kim, who is an amazing person.
The nature reserve where Lewis spent lots of time is right around the corner, don't miss it.Written 10 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
