Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Julia B5 contributionsI never write a review but I had to for this tour as Jess has to be the most outstanding tour guide ever - knowledgable and so humorous (perhaps she is moonlighting as a comedian in her spare time).
I’ve lived in Oxford for over a decade, and can’t believe that I haven’t yet been on this tour - the library is so stunning and there are so many wonderful treasures and stories to learn about. All in all, a fantastic experience!Written 22 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Thank you AshWritten 18 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Highlights include the Alfred Jewel, extensive early Egyptian collections and items like the lantern taken from Guy Fawkes when the gunpowder plot was discovered.Written 18 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - David nManchester, UK4,809 contributions.. the city of dreamy spires, and this city sure has enough beautiful sights = college buildings to satisfy anyone with an iota of interest in architecture. Luckily, the clouds parted to reveal a blue sky which then gave amazing pics with the sunshine reflecting off its many buildings.Written 15 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Kurt CMalta61 contributionsOne of the colleges in Oxford, rich in beauty and grandeur. Highly recommend the visit to Christ Church where you will be able to get sorted into your magical house. I mean, yes, you get to experience the hall from where JK Rowling got the inspiration for the Great Hall of Hogwarts. And the staircases. Lovely portrait of Henry VIII as well. PS: I always wanted to be a Ravenclaw, but Hufflepuff it is...Written 4 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - JJ CravingsCotswolds, UK40 contributionsCan’t believe I’ve never been here before, a really great museum, fantastic for both adults and children. The building is beautiful and enhanced the exhibits. If you like dinosaurs they have a few! The Pitt River section is amazing, so much stuff to see, too much to do in one visit, we’ll be back!Written 22 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - FattycrabNew York City, NY113 contributionsThe Pitt-Rivers is in a class of it’s won. Marie Kondo would have a hard time in this place- which is why everyone should visit it.. Museums present collections according to the beliefs of a society. That there was a time to collect and frankly take what one can- should be presented as cleanly and self-consciously as possible, without apologies.
Context matters and the Pitt-Rivera does that. It’s worth a trip to Oxford for that. Anyway- who is Harry Potter?Written 20 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Definitely visit only in warmer seasons as they charge the same price regardless of the month and there is a lot more to see between May-September times.Written 19 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It has a spectacular deer park, a very picturesque footpath named Addison's Walk and a lovely Fellows' garden, which members of the public can also access. The college was established in the late 15th century and its grounds contain a range of buildings from the late Middle Age cloister and chapel to the 19th and 20th century additions. Magdalen has numerous noted alumni, including the Irish playwright Oscar Wilde, philosopher A. C. Grayling, journalist Ian Hislop, and broadcaster Louis Theroux. The college also has an association with a number of royal families around the world, including the British Royal family. My friend and I entered for free through my Oxford alumnus card, but he said that he would have been more than happy to pay the £9 entry free as the college is absolutely worth it. Take note that the college's name is pronounced mawd-lin - I've yet to meet anyone who thinks this makes sense. The college guidebook is also practically a bargain at £5 in comparison to the cheapest book at Christ Church's bookshop, which was priced at £25!Written 13 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. You also need to be a slim Jim, the stairs are quite narrow, make sure you don’t fall off! Highly recommended it. 😁😊😁Written 29 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- permiaIreland66,964 contributionsA delightfully distinctive building it is one of the architectural treasures of the city. Funded with a momentous bequest of £40,000 from the physician John Radcliffe, it opened in 1749.
Having the further accolade of being the first circular library in the country, it makes for an essential visit.Written 5 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
