Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- DavidMadrid, Spain4,087 contributionsNeo-Gothic style monument built in the mid-nineteenth century in memory of the victims of the disease of that same century. It is located on the hill above Sheffield train station.Written 23 September 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - therichastillStevenage, UK3,237 contributionsThe City of Sheffield has a long history as a place where steel was produced. I believe there is still some activity but it is a shadow of what it once was.
As a tribute to the men and women who worked in the steelworks there is a statue of three steel workers pouring molten metal into a mould.
The statue of the workers is larger than normal human size and it shows the amount of strength and skill that goes into this industry.
It is located outside the Next store at the Meadowhall Shopping Centre so if you are coming from the Interchange it is the other side of the centre.Written 7 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Ebenezer Elliott ( 1781- 1849 ) was a land owner, factory owner and poet, known as the " corn law rhymer " he was one of the first to lead the fight in the abolishment of the Corn Laws which were causing hardship and starvation to the poor, a worthy statue that's in honour of a caring man ,its a well detailed statue, there's an information board in front of the statue that brings to light the history of the man,its a statue I highly recommend you seek out if you're planning on visiting Weston Park.Written 15 September 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The tale of 'Sheffield's Flying Fortress' Mi Amigo, is well worth reading. It dispels some of the myths about the tragic crash, while some of what happened may never be known. Brave men, who came from a far off land, to play their part in the fight against fascism, and died on this quiet hillside long ago.Written 27 July 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - therichastillStevenage, UK3,237 contributionsThe Women of Steel statue is located outside Sheffield City Hall. It is a reminder that during the two world wars the women of Sheffield stepped up and went to work in the factories whilst the men went to fight.
It's a great reminder that women are just as capable of doing things that men can do and this is an appropriate tribute.Written 7 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Meanwhile as you walk beside it there is water flowing down the side of the metal.
There is also a fountain nearby.
If water features are your thing then make sure you check this out on your visit to Sheffield. If it makes you want to go to the toilet don't worry as there are toilets in the nearby Sheffield railway station.Written 7 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The centrepiece of the monument is four statues of soldiers, standing with heads bowed and rifles reversed, mourning their fallen comrades. The statues are arranged around a central high flag pole, surmounted by a golden crown. Arranged around the base of the plinth are insignias of various British units for whom this memorial honours. There’s also two special memorials embedded in the pavement for the recipients of the Victoria Cross, both earned in the First World War. A monumental memorial worthy of Sheffield.Written 8 September 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- therichastillStevenage, UK3,237 contributionsOutside Sheffield station is Sheaf Square with some nice water features including a fountain and the Cutting Edge Sculpture which is the most noticeable thing. There is also a statue of a salmon leaping out of the water.
It's quite eye catching and it's nice to see different forms of art on display.Written 9 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There is a statue of him in the centre of Fitzalan Square which was probably built around the time of his reign based on some of the nearby buildings.
He is looking regally down on us, his subjects.Written 7 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The mosaic covers the entire wall of a building and depicts a helmeted steelworker in a nod to the proud heritage and men of Sheffield.Written 7 September 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - therichastillStevenage, UK3,237 contributionsSheffield Railway station staff provide very good customer service based on my experience. This has been recognised with a blue plaque on the main station concourse.
I would not consider this a "must see" activity on your visit to the station but it is good to see good work recognised.Written 2 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - macedonboyGlasgow, UK185,662 contributionsThis monument was raised in honour of James Montgomery, an 18th century poet, composer of hymns and past time theologian. Can't say I've ever heard of him, although I read that his poetry received much derision from critics. So it's probably no surprise that this monument was erected on the initiative of the Sheffield Sunday School Union.
The monument is a bronze life sized statue depicted in the romantic style of Montgomery as a middle aged man. He is shown wearing formal attire with a cloak draped across his shoulder and the other end held in the right hand. The statue surmounts square granite pedestal, with inscription and verses by Montgomery. The statue is in good condition, but is covered in moss, which does a good job of camouflaging its location under a tree.Written 10 September 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. This is a great sculptor made from 17.000 allen keys in the shape of a Peregrine falcon.
The work of sculptor Jason Helpenstall and commissioned by Ikea , it pays homage to the peregrine falcon who's numbers have greatly increased around Sheffield over the last few years.
It's most definitely well worth checking out if you're in the area and easy to locate by St George's Church.Written 19 September 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Two of the lions look in one direction and two look in the other direction. They are keeping watch of everyone going into and out of the old part of the city.Written 4 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Alena KMcHenry, IL80 contributionsNo direct way but walking. Nice housing and school area. Not an easy walk for handicap but doable.
