Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- MonikafromSurreySurrey, England2,681 contributionsWhat a great photo spot! It’s a famous bridge over the River Avon. We just finished our Hop On Hop Off bus city tour and stopped here for some pics. Upon reading about its history we also found out it’s only 18 meters long and it got damaged in the 18th century by floods and then rebuilt to a similar design. Lots of cafes nearby. Definitely worth a visit.Written 1 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

It is also known as Bath Cross Over Bridge.
Standing on the bridge, northside, looking down the River, it is possible to see the iconic Pulteney Bridge.
A single span bridge, the original that was built in 1835 was a metal structure. In 1936-7, the old iron bridge spans were recovered with Ashlar Stone, to be more on keeping with the Bath image.
On one end of the bridge on a small pair of stone built structures known as lodges.
Through one of these small buildings we took a spiral staircase down to the towpath along the River, where Bath Rugby and Sports and Leisure Centre are. It is also a route to access Bath Skyline Walk.Written 6 July 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. This Bridge was one of number that we sailed under. It is a narrow concrete structure, in fact it is rather ugly.
It carries cyclists and pedestrians and connects Kensington Meadows to the Kennet and Avon canal towpath.Written 5 June 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Along the way this was one of the bridges we sailed under. This Grade II listed structure opened in 1826. It spans the River, linking Bathwick Street and Cleveland Place.
The single arched metal structure is currently shrouded in scaffolding as it undergoes a multi million pound structual repair, which commenced on the 4th May and expected to take 7 months.
At each end of the Bridge there there is a small unusual building, known as a lodge, built in a style that could be considered Greek.Written 4 June 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
