Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Eunice L2 contributionsThe magic tricks from Moses are all non traditional ones we assumed. The ideas of his magic tricks are interesting and interactive with the audience. Highly recommended!Written 31 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Shelbz53Falmouth, UK81 contributionsWe went to Komedia on 6th April to celebrate a Hen party. The food was really good, table service was fab, drinks were nice, and the first two comedians were absolutely brilliant. Couldn’t breathe for laughing, especially Harriet Dyer, wow she could hold the room! And Tom Deacons comedy was hilarious too!
Unfortunately the third comedian Duncan Oakley was just so awful…. His ‘jokes’ were sexist, incredibly misogynistic, inappropriate, awkward… not to mention all the other things he was doing like sound effects and awful songs degrading women that I couldn’t describe on trip advisor! It was basically a 15 minute rant on his hatred of women.
We didn’t know if he just hated all females?…. Or still has that 1940’s attitude to relationships, but he was super inappropriate. As he was the last comedian he did ruin the night unfortunately. He got the least claps and cheers for sure. He made us feel quite queasy with the things he was saying. Comedic talent doesn’t have to come from only degrading others, specifically females.
Do people at Komedia vet who they choose to book?
Other than the let down on the last comedian, it was a good night had by all at Komedia. Great value for money too. Would visit again but I’d check the line up first.Written 15 April 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Fantastic selection of comedians, lovely venue and a charming and gracious MC. The headliner did a sensational job of closing the night. So glad I went along - already looking forward to the next one. Thanks very much to you all!Written 29 July 2014This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Zippyh198353 contributionsWatched a band here with my partner on 2nd December. Overall the venue is nice, very quirky. Upon arrival we found the doorman and the staff to be very friendly and pleasant. Great selection of drinks.
Sound quality not the best if I am totally honest but have heard worst.
I must however make a point of saying the doorman who arrived much later. (I assume after the band had finished) as I hadn’t noticed him all night, is the rudest, and nastiest doorman I have ever endured. Quite a small chap with dark hair, probably 30-35. It was hammering down with rain, and as the Uber driver who took us there, advised they couldn’t park up right outside the venue, we planned to order it to pick us up across the road (Thai restaurant) we nipped into a door way to book the Uber to save my phone getting wet. He appeared and in the most abrupt and rudest tone, said ; get out of the fire exit NOW, we moved straight away but my partner and rightly so, said we will move mate but there is no notice to say it is a fire exit and there’s a way of speaking to people, he rudely replied “well I’ve just told you it is, so move!!!
You could tell from his swagger he clearly had a chip on his shoulder and regrettably is the sort of doorman that you don’t want representing your venue. It’s a real shame as we had a wonderful night, and as above the doorman that was on all night was a professional and very different individual.
I have never had to leave a review, base on a doorman’s attitude, but clearly a trouble maker who was set out to make peeps nights a misery.Written 3 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There a lovely courtyard garden (great for sitting with friends), large bar area and the live music area/stage goes on for miles! Very clean and modern toilet facilities. No parking - the closest car park is either Morrisons or Walcot St. we visited as part of Bath Festival’s Party In the City so got to experience live music for free - but we will definitely be back!Written 18 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Catherine L50 contributionsWe came across this theatre quite by chance on a short meet-up in Bath. Racing Demon by David Hare was showing. Warm welcome, small, friendly bar, interesting building and terrific acting despite the cast being a man down and needing a read-in. Arranged in the round the director had made convincing use of the space - one minute a bishop’s palace and the next a South London pub. The church in the apse remained throughout. An affordable and thought-provoking evening.Written 3 December 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- moonsonBathampton, UK123 contributionsThis was THE resource for what's on in Bath (& lots of Bristol), compiled by real people with real knowledge of what they were writing about. I hope it comes back, but was closed because of personal issues - now much better, so perhaps we can hope...Written 19 March 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
