Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Dave H16 contributionsSurprisingly bigger than you think it would be. Took us around 90 mins to go around and didn't feel crowded at all. Informative commentary on hand held devices, and really well laid outWritten 15 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Don HPhoenix, AZ3 contributionsThe Abbey is beautiful, I decide to take the free guided tour and had the most amazing guide. Jess was informative, funny, entertaining. Her enthusiasm brought the history of the Abbey and English history alive. When you go, ask for Jess, you won’t be disappointedWritten 13 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Freedom374207574273 contributionsThe view is amazing from both above and below the bridge. Stop and think about what you experienced here. A perfect resting spot.Written 5 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Angie DAmes, IA292 contributionsI think this is definitely a place to sit and relax or perhaps have a picnic under the trees in the circle, if you can't go in and visit one of the townhouses (which would be most people)! We spent probably 20-30 minutes here on our way to the Assembly Rooms and the Royal Crescent.Written 27 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - jane s2 contributionsI visited with my daughter and we both had a fantastic afternoon. The birds were very well kept and the staff and volunteers were well informed and clearly love working there.
We watched the display at 2.30pm which included a Kestrel, a large Owl and a Peregrine Falcon. The commentry was interesting and the display was an absolute delight.
Will definately be returning in the future for a 'Fly a bird' experience.Written 1 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The gardens are a nice respite and change from the other attractions in Bath. We took the bus there from central Bath, which was quite easy, quick, and cheap. As it was a Monday, it was not busy at all and essentially, we had the whole place to ourselves. Lots of opportunities to take pictures and enjoy the old Allen Estate.Written 4 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Alice H4 contributionsLovely spot of bath to visit for free with the kids, lots of benches, well maintained and many nice cafes and shops nearby.Written 2 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Teacake_TasterChesterfield, UK1,215 contributionsJust outside Bath but you would think it was in the middle of nowhere when sat on the terrace. Lovely views, relaxing garden and short walks. There is a decent cafe which serves good coffee and food with an American twist. Nice photos on the walls of various icons.
The house is over 3 floors and traces the general history of the USA by a series of rooms from different periods. Seems to be struggling to refocus its content to include indigenous and racial issues but gives a good insight into life of the settlers and onwards. Could have spent a lot longer there but chilli dogs beckoned for lunch!
We looked in the American road trip exhibition which was interesting historical timeline.
Bought some well priced perreennison the way out.Written 11 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It is a cute destination to walk to but expect a bit of a hikeWritten 6 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - DdsKuala Lumpur, Malaysia307 contributionsA short uphill drive from the hustle and bustle of the city and you will end up with spectacular views of Bath’s skyline. You’ll need to drive thru the entrance, one way road and park on the left side where parking is allocated. Free for the 1st hour. Follow the road around to exit. Benches for those who love to sit and read or soak up the silence are available. Kids would enjoy the playground.Written 9 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- george ftruro31 contributionsThe audio guide was very good and there was plenty to see here. I would of only wished for more information written throughout the castle as the audio guide did not cover everything.Written 6 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Lucy TIsle of Wight, UK1,526 contributionsI would recommend a visit here. Free to enter and the wildlife doesn’t mind you at all. We had squirrels, wood pigeons and jays all in close proximity to us which was a real treat! There were also plenty of lovely flowers, water features and benches to sit on and relax.Written 8 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - SioniloTreorchy, UK416 contributionsWe thoroughly enjoyed a few day in Bath riding the many cycle routes, tow paths and railway lines, but the highlight was the ride through the greenway tunnels! Well done to all that made this conversion happen plus Sudtrans. Let’s hope they can get their ‘fingers out’ in Wales to get the Rhondda to Blaengwynfi tunnel open for the same experience- awesome!!
All tracks were mainly tarmac with some slight gradients involved but simple with an e-bike of course.
Old Bath to Bristol line used for a multi use track with attractions on the way - steam train rides, pubs and tea rooms. Although it should be said that the authorities need to strum the sides of the paths on that line as they are over grown with nettles, 🙏
Visit these rides yo won’t be disappointed!Written 1 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
