Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- VncrCanadaVancouver, Canada236 contributionsIncredible place! It was totally worth the price of admission. The line up was well-controlled and organized as you choose a time for entry. Therefore, it was not too crowded inside. We went on a weekday which probably helped with numbers too. The staff at the entry who explain where to go were really friendly and spoke to each visitor on a human level even though they had to give the same spiel over and over again. The audio phones gave good, clear information. The arrows inside the museum clearly showed the route through the exhibits. You can get very close to the edge of the baths, the place is wayyyy bigger than we expected. Some areas are still awaiting discovery, wow, cool!Written 12 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - jaimielauraCalifornia29 contributionsWe had a lovely tour of the Bath Abbey Tower. The tour takes you up 212 steps of a spiral staircase and explains the bell system and clock system as well as some history of the Abbey. Our tour guides were wonderful and exuberant. They made it feel like this was the most exciting thing for them as well, even though they have been through it hundreds of times. The view of the entire city is incomparable once you reach the top. Enjoy!Written 14 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Lucy TIsle of Wight, UK1,471 contributionsWe enjoyed looking around the rooms at our own pace. It was disappointing that other visitors felt the need to push in when there was a clear queue forming outside to enter. I found the gift shop disappointing as there weren’t any branded souvenirs to buy other than a guidebook- I like pens, postcards, keyrings etc.Written 8 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ihaveshoosThornbury, UK462 contributionsA pretty place to visit, with lots of cool little boutique shops. You won't know you're on the bridge while you're shopping, but the view from down by the weir is wonderfully quaint.
An essential spot if you are doing the Bath tourist circuit, but do remember to watch for residents and local traffic because it does get congested in the summer.Written 26 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We spent probably 20-30 minutes here on our way to the Assembly Rooms and the Royal Crescent.Written 27 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Rachel MRegina, Canada9 contributionsWhat a wonderful experience I had! I booked a Halk Walk on a Tuesday when they are closed to the public and was delighted to find that it was completely private and I would be the only one there. I got lots of time with Charlie and he was very eager to show off on a windy day! The staff were great and very informative.Written 11 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- chicag0traveler_11Saint Louis, MO79 contributionsLearned some more about Jane’s time in Bath. Center could use some updating. Unfortunately there was a large group there when we went and it limited our ability to spend time looking at the displays.Written 5 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - chicag0traveler_11Saint Louis, MO79 contributionsBeautiful park. Recommend taking an Uber or the bus to the park entrance. It’s a steep walk down, but absolutely enchanting. The Tea House also is a nice spot to get a drink and enjoy the views. Would recommend exiting near the tea house and walking back into Bath. Quaint streets and a lovely little church to explore on the way.Written 5 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Charlie111111Southport. Uk198 contributionsBrilliant play park for the kids. Our son aged 8 loved the swings, the large slides, large climbing frame, spinning chairs and zip wires.Written 15 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Mike WWimbledon, London159 contributionsCan’t understand the last two negative reviews. I thought the Holburne EXCELLENT and it far exceeded my expectations. I came from SW London for the Henry Moore miniatures exhibition but probably enjoyed the Mr Doodle one more and the permanent displays are also outstanding. The cafe was good too. If I lived nearer, I am sure I would have annual membership and the Sydney Gardens are also a nice place to stroll round afterwards.
Just be careful if you are hoping to park your car at the museum. The car park is small and you might have to find an alternative which I imagine in Bath could be difficultWritten 29 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The highlight is undoubtedly the open-air pool on the roof, which offers stunning views of Bath while you soak in the ancient, mineral-rich waters. There’s something magical about floating in the warm, healing water surrounded by the city’s historic architecture.
The waters of Bath are legendary, and after a couple of hours of soaking, we both felt incredibly refreshed and revitalized. It’s more than just a relaxing dip—the minerals in the water seem to have genuine restorative powers. We loved the combination of soaking, floating, and enjoying the sauna and steam rooms, which left us feeling deeply relaxed and renewed.
A tip for visitors: make sure to bring flip-flops with you, as they come in handy for moving between the pools and the different relaxation areas. Overall, this was a truly refreshing experience, perfect for unwinding and recharging in the most soothing way possible. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Bath!Written 14 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - IssyAuckland, New Zealand4 contributionsMake sure you know where you are going - a littledifficult to find. And do not expect an actual castle. - DdsKuala Lumpur, Malaysia300 contributionsA short uphill drive from the hustle and bustle of the city and you will end up with spectacular views of Bath’s skyline. You’ll need to drive thru the entrance, one way road and park on the left side where parking is allocated. Free for the 1st hour. Follow the road around to exit. Benches for those who love to sit and read or soak up the silence are available. Kids would enjoy the playground.Written 9 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
