Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great views of bridges. Signs from Tyne Bridge to Quayside lacking due to work on Tyne Bridge. Plenty of places to eat and drink. Nice walk along Quayside back from Millennium Bridge.

I'm a local, but haven't visited the Castle since my childhood. I can honestly say I found the experience as exciting as I did as a child and enjoyed the views from the castle much more. This was a great experience with much to see and much to learn from the excellent signage provided. There were a few visitors besides ourselves, but not too many that it had any effect on our enjoyment of the experience. Be warned, there are lots of steps which need to be climbed so as to enjoy Castle Keep to the full. Great experience and a perfectly reasonable price for tickets relative to today's prices. I'm tempted to revisit soon. Kids of all ages would love this.

Was born in the outskirts of Newcastle but have never been to the Discovery museum. Brought university friends for a visit- all in our 60’s now and learnt so much. Excellent museum, liked the stories of the inspirational women can highly recommend

Lovely little spot in Jesmond. Super easy to get to from the town centre by the metro and well worth the trip for the lovely cafe and animals!

We visited the cathedral for one of the Candlelight Concerts and this one was the music of The Eagles. The musicians were first class and the sound in the church is really good. We'd definitely go to another one. However, our experience was somewhat marred by a woman nearby who used her 'phone throughout the whole concert. We could see the constant bright, 'phone light in our peripheral vision when the atmosphere was supposed to be dark, - apart from one or two lights behind the band, the light came from candles. Why go to a concert if you're not going to watch the show?

The Royal Theater is in the main part of the city. The building is very nice. I liked the crest on the top a lot. It has a reputation for putting on some great presentations.

Great museum, if you have an hour or so, spare in Newcastle, free entry, and very good for a non paid one. Of course, they do recommend a donation, and it's worth it.

I love museums and science so on a trip to Newcastle me and my partner visited here. It ended up being a very quiet day, barely saw anyone else which was nice to avoid crowds but also meant a lot of the ticketed events or things like the planetarium appeared to not be running at all as no one seemed to be around at the entrance and all in all seemed like a rest day for the centre. No worries as me and my partner still had a good time, though a lot of the activities are more catered to much younger audiences then us. There are some entertaining things to do like the pulley chairs and the weather station and I loved the section on bees though it could be more interactive. Similarly don't think the being a scientist activity was running as we looked around but it appeared closed. All good and I bet on busier days it's a lot more lively and engaging, probably would be great for families!

Love to visit this market as it has so many good places to eat in and shop at.We had our breakfast at Olivers coffee shop which is near to the cheese shop.We both had a full english and irish breakfast with tea.The service was friendly and the food was great - nice and fresh.
There are many places to shop at with the cheese shop being a particular favourite as well as the artisan bread shop which is close by.

This is the center area of the city. It was designed later in the city’s history. It has shops and arts and places to eat. It looks quite nice when walking.

We have been planning to visit the Turner exhibition for some time, as it may be our only chance to do so. We wanted to avoid the school holidays, which left only this week before the event finished. There was a small entrance fee, (the rest of the museum exhibits being free to enjoy.)

I had not realised that Turner did many paintings of the North East, which we could easily relate to. Of course, the star of the show was, The Fighting Temeraire; which was worth the entry fee alone. I have seen the painting several times on TV but it looks even better close up. It has an ethereal quality about it. The colours really stand out and the more you look at it, the more you see. Not to undermine his other paintings or those of the other artists on display but this is a true masterpiece, in every sense of the word. Pleased that we made the effort to see it.

There were other artists on display with Turner and I particularly enjoyed some of the industrial scenes of the North East. The other large exhibition space had an eclectic mix of paintings, some of which are excellent and others which may fall under the category of 'there's no accounting for taste.' On the ground floor, the exhibition of mostly industrial North East art, was very enjoyable and a poignant reminder of times past, on the River Tyne. There is a pleasant cafe, toilets on each floor and a gift shop on two levels. Donations are always welcome.

It's along the river and it's a fun market to hang around, see what is for sale. I always look at the food. Friendly vendors, just a lovely experience. Too bad it isn't everyday.

Dropped the wife and kids off to do shopping while I went to the Newcastle game. There are a variety of stored and food places.
