Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Anne B2 contributionsAs we walked along Newcastle quayside to Lime Street, it was such a lovely morning we weren’t sure if visiting the tunnels was a good idea, but once we got there we realised we’d made the correct decision. The tour was fascinating from start to finish, everything about the tunnels was interesting, from the construction and use as a railway, to how it was used during the war as a shelter. It was brought to life by Trev the tour guide who was very informative and entertaining.Written 17 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Meander194622875549 contributionsGreat library beautifully designed which did exactly what one would hope it would do: I found a book with exactly the information I was looking for (why were so many English homes built with the same vernacular style down through the ages?). We were greeted cheerfully and invited in and made to feel at home--and the place is very homey. Also, having just read a history of book-making and another of bookstores, as well as the book THE BOOKSELLER, it was fascinating to be in an actual subscription library.Written 15 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - BraindamagedbaronNewark-on-Trent, UK1,775 contributionsWent to see the mighty Gun on their Hombres tour at The Wylam and was pleasantly surprised. Never having bee before, I thought the venue as one for a gig was fantastic! Plenty of room yet intimate and acoustically excellent. Loved the band, as ever and will certainly return in the future.Written 16 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - NotPenny’sBoatSt George, UK14 contributionsFirst-time visitors to Newcastle, we spent a lovely afternoon exploring the Ouseburn valley area on the advice of a local taxi driver, and so grateful to him , otherwise we would have probably just spent our time shopping/ eating at the well-known chain companies that all cities have! Ouseburn is fascinating, the community effort that has gone into regenerating this once run-down, derelict, little urban river valley and bringing back to life the abandoned factories and old industrial buildings, is just awe-inspiring. The jewel of it all we felt, is the Ouseburn community farm and Cafe. We planned to go back the following morning for breakfast, and so glad we did! I have to say, I wish I could travel back to Newcastle every day for this breakfast. All of the staff/ volunteers were lovely. Eager to help , and happy to answer all of our questions about the food and the farm. I had the Eggs Santiago and enjoyed it so much I’ve tried to recreate it at home every Sunday morning since! We had a lovely walk around the farm after breakfast. It is just wonderful and I have so much respect and admiration for everyone involved with it. Definitely recommend to any visitors, this community farm/ cafe is not to be missed 💗Written 30 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ThisCharmingFlanNewcastle upon Tyne, UK18 contributionsWe got married here in early September 2024. From the first viewing we were sure this is where we wanted to have our wedding.
The house is breathtaking, inside and out. The gardens are lovely to wander around as a change from the goings on inside, it feels like you’re in the countryside while actually being practically in the City Centre. Inside everything is in a classic design, and the rooms are all a good size. We had 120 guests and there was plenty of room for everyone to drift in between the various rooms.
Tia could not have been more helpful and accommodating with our various changes of heart and requests - nothing was any bother. The meal during our day was fantastic, and buffet later on, top notch. Very generous portion sizes too - nobody will go hungry.
A mention for Sean who hosted a fantastic breakfast the next morning as well! There are 5 bedrooms available to hire upstairs overnight, and they were all spacious and comfortable too.
We’d recommend the Mansion House to anyone looking to host any kind of event. If you want a wedding as easy as possible to plan, you won’t be disappointed. Thanks to all! Last week I took him for a one hour session in the helicopter where once again he excelled. He’s now really looking forward to the Concord experience which looks fantastic!
Big thanks to his instructor who is exceptional, offering support and encouragement.Written 14 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Ailsa38 contributionsLovely relaxing, therapeutic day making beautiful jewellery. Sarah was very friendly and approachable so didn't feel pressurised at all. She is very skillful and me and my daughter in law produced jewellery we were proud of and definitely would wear. - Simon M1 contributionJust a really really nice place, that the country needs more of. I literally only nipped in for a (very reasonably priced) drink, while waiting for a coach the day after a concert and even in that time you could tell what a great service this place provides. All manner of shows were advertised covering a wide variety of performances, with the vast majority being accessible on a pay what you can afford basis. To have such a wide selection of the arts available to people who could otherwise be excluded is fantastic and everyone involved with this place deserves a lot of credit. I only saw the really nice bar/reception area and the spotless loos but glad I did so, as it's nice to know these sorts of places are still around. So impressed I'm hoping to go back and visit for a show soon despite living well over 100 miles away! Well done to everyone involvedWritten 5 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- mukhasbenSouth Shields, UK4,439 contributionsWe were visiting the Tyneside Theatre to see a preview of CBBCs upcoming tv show (the Dumping Ground).
The cinema is more roomier than modern cinemas and has a good atmosphere and staff.
We enjoyed the breakfast buffet and Q and A with the cast. A lot of upcoming shows and films are advertised.
Very enjoyable.Written 11 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
