The Cock pub is popular with locals and young adults (especially students). It has a friendly atmosphere, locals are very chatty and remember your name. The pub is tidy, clean and there is plenty of comfortable seating. There is a pool table and a free jukebox available. There is not much choice of draft beer available, however I usually had two bottles of Newcastle Brown Ale which tasted nice.
