Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- DorrisLondon, UK3 contributionsIt has a wide range of shops and things to do especially at this time of the year with the Christmas market which we visited! Some independent stores and big chains alike. Can be a bit overcrowded at times though.Written 25 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- slama01902Willenhall, UK11 contributionsStayed at the Genting hotel in Resorts World Birmingham, for the Eric Clapton gig.
On arrival i had not pre booked parking but the gentleman on the gate was very helpful and I parked in S2. Took the short walk to the Resort World complex and found the hotel reception, there were a few in the queue to check in but plenty of staff it took around 15 minutes in total, the gentleman who checked us in was very helpful.
Bags in the room which was very spacious, clean and tidy (‘should be for over £230 per night) time for a drink, first of all went up to the sky bar was told to sit where we like but there were no seats / tables inside available so turned around and went to the sports bar in the casino that was completely empty, at the bar was told the draft beer wasn’t on so only had bottles, 2 bottles of 330ml larger was nearly £9 so a little pricey. We had pre booked a table in Miller and Carter, good job we did as like everywhere else in the complex it was rammed, service and food was really good and would recommend but you must book they were turning people away who hadn’t booked
Spent the evening at the concert Mr Clapton was great except he didn’t play Layla which was a shame but a good time was had by all. One bit of advise try doing your drinking in the resorts world complex not the arena, a pint and half of larger in the complex is around £7.95 where as the same in the arena is £11.95
After the show we headed back to the sports bar in the casino where I was refused entry because I had jogging bottoms on (£600 Burberry one’s) they certainly didn’t mind me being in there earlier when it was empty other people were walking in with jeans and rock T-shirts no problem, to be honest it was quite embarrassing. It’s been about 30 years since I’ve been refused entry to a bar, I didn’t make a fuss (won’t use that bar ever again) We headed to the world bar by reception where we had no problem on entry, I asked the doorman if I was ok in my joggers and he said no problem, I did explain that the doorman at the casino sports bar had refused me, he was shocked.
Next morning went for breakfast which was very busy we had to wait in a queue for about 10 minutes to be seated as in my opinion there was not enough staff, the helpful lady at the front of house was also cleaning of your table before she seated you, breakfast was decent plenty of choice, and friendly staff, on check out the gentleman checking us out was very helpful and saved me a few quid on parking.Written 14 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Lots of shops and eating areas and the toilets are relatively well maintained & clean.Written 1 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - EvaF2EvaLorrach, Germany5,157 contributionsI didn´t enter the building as my time in Birmingham was limited and the weather was so nice that I preferred outdoor. But I really loved the interesting building. Especially the side facing the canal is charming.Written 12 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Thomas GAmsterdam, The Netherlands1,834 contributionsIf you don't have tickets for something it is pretty boring, but it is probably different if you will see something special. We saw a nice atelier, but for the rest there is nothing much to see.Written 27 October 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - russironLondon, UK456 contributionsSaw the first bear as I walked to my hotel, and thought, that is something I can do on my own. So got my map, and decided to go for a stroll, looking for them, and I nearly missed one. The one at New Street is hard to find, a little clue, it is upstairs, and the one in Selfridges is on the ground floor, in the children's department at the back. Nice couple of hours walk in you fancy it. It finishes on the 6th September, so you have less than a month left to complete it.Written 13 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Susan NBirmingham, UK1 contributionWe recently held a corporate event for 140 members of staff.
The room was spacious and facilities excellent. But what really made Burlington Arcade stand out from other function rooms we have used in the past were the staff. From the initial enquiry to setting up what we wanted from the venue on the day, was so easy and made organising the event stress free. Great communication throughout.
On the day, staff were so attentive and helpful - nothing was too much trouble. Always on hand to help. Lunch was really tasty and our staff complimented the variety offered, which catered for all needs and tastes.
Overall a first rate experience from start to finish, we will definitely be coming here again.Written 28 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - F BBirmingham, UK107 contributionsOnestop has been around for along time
A lot of changes have taken place
Rents are too high so businesses don’t last long.
Get a parking fine for just parking slightly out of line which is ridiculous!!!
Not many good stores or eating places round here.
Get strangers coming up to you while you are by your car asking for money and some times selling jewellery probably stolen!!
Hardly any security around and too many youngsters walking up asking for money!!
Don’t really feel safe here.
Parking attendant constantly walking arouund.
Asda is a joke, they have self serve and the pricing guns are not available and even if you have 2 items they still want to check & you left waiting as not enough staff around.
Not really worth visiting!!!Written 1 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
