Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Really interesting house full of character with furnishings and pictures from the era it was built. The property is reminiscent of National Trust properties but much more accessible for central Birmingham. It’s a shame there are few visitors as it really is a hidden gem and was thoroughly enjoyed by our whole family which included a mixed age group from 13 to 85. Maybe they can get some volunteers in to help maintain the gardens and run a tea shop?

Overall this experience was very lovely which is why I’ve given this 4/5. But..

My main critic would be that this was soooooo rushed. So much so that one family requested to have their food wrapped and taken home because we were not given enough time to eat.

We were advised to arrive ten minutes early at 8.50. At 9 we had an elf come to the shutters of a closed store telling us they didn’t know how to open up. We were seated at 9.10 in Fumo (which was decorated festively). So far ten minutes lost and 20 minutes of unnecessary standing around waiting. We were offered basic tea or coffee which was served cold. I requested another and was given tea instead of coffee. The server ran off so fast I couldn’t alert them. Once I got someone to come over they tipped the tea over the table and (without mopping it up) put a fresh cup down of yet again cold coffee. This is 3 times! This is supposed to be a high end place and a server can’t clean up spills or even achieve HOT coffee. Gregg’s can manage this! We then had to eat 3 courses and finish drinks within 45 mins whilst also having entertainment interruptions. So we got first course at 9.15. Third course served at 9.50. Within ten minutes we were asked to go downstairs for Santa’s story. Food was left uneaten no coffee was had (no apple juice was seen either just orange as suggested on the menu).
The entertainment was lovely overall but given the time frame it placed a lot of limitations on everything.
I didn’t want to complain or we would have missed out on things and I didn’t want to spoil the experience for our daughter but for paying over £100 for this there is definitely room for improvements.

We visited to see Lindisfarne perform. The group were great and they seemed to be well-supported by the venue. However the bars were woefully inadequate to serve the audience (even though the venue was only about half full.) The staff on duty seemed to be working efficiently but provision was simply inadequate. Also, we wanted ice creams but they didnt seem to be available

It is a small picturesque railway station a bit drowned in between high modern buildings, constructions and busy traffic around. After entering its small historical building one feels like in another world. It is charming and cosy, very clean and peaceful. I have never enjoyed waiting to my train as much as at this station.

It is one of two working water mills in Birmingham and is presented by an enthusiast who makes the hour long tour both entertaining and educational. He brought it back to life but it is not fully functional as the New Hall Mill is in Walmley Sutton Coldfield. However that Mill is run by volunteers and only occasionally open . This mill has close ties with Tolkien and is an essential visit for his fans. It is close to River Cole ad Moseley Bog so you can spend some time in the locality. Unfortunately by its very nature it is not suitable for anyone with disabilities . The cafe has very limited refreshments so bring a picnic . It is poorly signposted with the satnav just off beam.

Attended a friend's wedding at this hidden gem. Sue & her team were fantastic and nothing was too much trouble for them. Food was excellent and everyone commented on the quality of the meal.
The house & grounds were a perfect backdrop for photos and despite the elegance of the interior, it was very informal and welcoming.
Would love to return on an open day to have a guided tour & learn more about the history of this beautiful building.

It is very easy to find, right behind the mailbox. Parking at The mailbox is a must as they only do Parking 3, 6, or 12 months at The Cube. Nice room with fabulous views over Birmingham, the room wasn't too hot, which is always a bonus & a fan was provided. The carpet was quite stained in the room, but other than that, no issues. Breakfast was excellent. There were lots of choices, and we had absolutely gorgeous almost 360 views on the top of the building whilst eating. We really enjoyed our night's stay & would definitely stay again 😊

Instigated after WW I as a tribute to the more than 12,000 from the city who fell in that war, it was inaugurated with suitable ceremony in 1925.

After the horrors of WW II and subsequent conflicts it was rededicated to honour also all of those further losses.

A most impressive monument in light hued Portland stone it has four bronze sculptures around the base. They represent the three armed and women services.

Inside are plaques and Rolls of Honour of those from the city who fell in the wars.

Magnificent imperial building. A real eye catcher. Sadly looking very unloved and run down with weeds growing out of roof and structure .

I have stayed at the Rotunda before so knew what to expect...or I thought I did. You pick the keys up from a shop nearby which I found a bit odd and drop them off at the same shop when you check out. Finding the apartment (1606) was pretty easy and we managed to get in without any problems. At first glance, the apartment looked ok. Was very sparse though and not very homely. No sofa, no homely touches. Not somewhere you could relax really. I was looking forward to the views and they didn't disappoint until I tried to slide the windows open. Neither window opens!!! Obviously broken! Apartment itself was a bit grubby in places and quite a few things were broken in the bathroom. I could have overlooked these things if I hadn't have pulled the sheet back on the bed in the morning and saw the most DISGUSTING mattress I have ever come across! No mattress cover so whoever is changing the bedding (if they are) will be fully aware of the state of it. It wants burning!! Vile! Won't be back.

Still love this delightful square, do close to the hustle and bustle of Central Birmingham....yet still an oasis of tranquility. Lovely pubs, hotels, architecture and restaurants adorned this quiet, village type area.

    This church is truly iconic.
I have a personal connection with it as it was my Grandfather who was involved with the building of this stunning building.
I would strongly recommend attending the open days when they are on and to come and enjoy this wonderful piece of heritage.
