Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It was our first time at the Barber Institute but definitely won't be the last. Our visit to the Scent and the Art of the Pre-Raphaelites exhibition surpassed our expectations and we've been talking about it ever since.

What makes the Barber Institute particularly stand out is the friendliness of the staff - without exception. Simon was superb: helping us access the lifts (one of our party had mobility issues) and a great knowledge of the pieces which he brought to life for us. Even our teenagers loved it.

The Barber Institute is due to close for a year at the end of the month for refurbishment, so if you have time to visit the Scent exhibition, it's well worth the visit. I'm looking forward to the reopening in 2026.

Great that this old factory is being re-purposed. Lots of interesting shops but sadly most were closed [Wednesday in February]. I think more are open at the weekend.
Around the area is lots of great wall art/murals.
The Artisan Deli by Saffron is very good and worth a visit.

We went specifically to see the Gentileschi on loan, s-elf portrait as Saint Catherine of Alexandria (of Catherine Wheel fame).
The painting was as wonderful as expected, but the experience was heightened by seeing it in a dark room, the portrait beautifully illuminated and quite rightly the focal point.
Don't be tempted to take the stairs. The lift is its own artwork, which will delight you. Ity would spoil it to say more.
The friendly, enthusiastic staff were lovely and the coffee shop attached to the gallery was great.

Excellent evening of entertainment in the theatre for the 'Irish House Party'.
Despite the car park being busy, found parking right outside the MAC and paid using the 'RINGO' app.
Staff all very friendly and helpful.
The venue was busy, but buzzing with activity and was bright and clean.
    The show was brilliant.
A great night out. Highly recommend the MAC.

The victorian radicals ex, was a class instruction to all modern artists, each piece was deliberately understated but beautiful to view and enjoy the vast collection of impressive art!
The kind girl who at reception was very helpful and very smart and had a love for her job. Making sure my uncouth peasant friend and I happy with going in. This kind of staffing is hard to find nowadays.
Highly recommend to those who would love to experience a place you consume not just stare at.

A delightful little art gallery in the beautiful Jewellery Quarter of Birmingham, I would recommend this almost hidden gem to all art lovers. They have regular exhibitions throughout the year and some stunning art displays during these. You’ll definitely find a piece of art or sculpture that you love for a price that is within your reach because the range is vast. Free to browse but donations welcome.

Very good pop art stuff her - didnt appeal to me much but am sure it would to many. Thought it was going to be bigger - no idea why but certainly worth a visit if in the area. Not a pure gallery as they also do framing and maybe they have a web site.

The building is beautiful & interesting. The crafts & cafe work well together - food for heart & soul. Our lunch of houmous, salads & bread was delicious. I can't stop thinking about the fruity saffron bread - I wish I had some today. Our visit was in April 2019 & I've been meaning to write a review for this wonderful, interesting, friendly venue for some time. I hope to visit soon for a tour of the building & more bread. If it were closer to me I'd be there more often.

After going to the event for a party, we decided it would be a good place to run our music event "Boxstock" the UK Cigar Box Guitar Festival. It was ideal - the spaces worked for us, guests were impressed by the overall vibe and Anna and her staff could not have been more helpful and accommodating. We hired the venue for a whole day and evening, and were able to access the venue the day before and after to set-up and break down our sound system, which made the whole operation easy and stress free for us. There's very cheap car parking right opposite the venue, which was very convenient. We were able to sell snacks and our visitors were able to order-in food, which worked well for everyone. The stylish reception desk was perfect for running the door and selling merchandise from. Included in the price was the efficient bar staff and very friendly and helpful door staff, which all added to the confidence and satisfaction that we able to run a successful event.

An interesting selection of art, both local and widespread, is displayed. Rick Garland is represented by More than Enough and Dock of the Day.

Good to see a couple of works by Andy Warhol, namely Mick Jagger from 1975 and his rendition of Mao completed by 1972.

Streetscapes by the founder Reuben Colley are striking.

Came across this gallery by chance. What a beautiful little gem in the jewellery quarter of Birmingham. We were greeted by a lovely friendly lady who originally was from Switzerland ( I am sorry we didn't get her name ) . We were so impressed with the furniture pecies for sale. All unique and such outstanding quality. Antiques of the future. Will visit again the next time we visit our family in Birmingham and hopefully will buy a piece of furniture or I might persuade my hubby to treat me to a piece of contemporary jewellery.
