Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- MCB27NorthamptonNorthampton75 contributionsWe enjoyed an enjoyable afternoon being shown around National Trust Back to Backs houses. We were shown around by Jeff who was very informative with his wealth of knowledge. He had a very friendly, approachable manner and made sure everyone was comfortable particularly regarding the steep stair cases. He was happy to answer any questions.
It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience and would highly recommendWritten 3 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. However finally got a slot for 4pm, booked and went there.
Not up to mark and below than expected. History of Cadbury journey is showed through animated screens and not much impressive.
Chocolate making was not good whereas Chocolate tasting is good. .
Overall not a preferable choice. To be honest, didn't see some attractive things that can inspire kids and family. Moreover quite expensive too.Written 25 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Our guide was super friendly, engaging and knowledgeable. The tour took us through the history of the team, the trophy’s won and key players as well as the stadium itself. The chairman’s box and being pitch side were almost like hallowed ground for him as well as the opportunity to sit in his favourite players seats in the dressing room and walk down the tunnel. Highly recommend to visitors to Birmingham, especially if they are Villa fansWritten 2 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Craig WWarwick, UK31 contributionsThis is my favourite place to visit cause I love animals also one I would love to work with animals in the near future that is my dream. It was nice to hear facts about penguins I did not know about. The only bad thing I have to say was there was a sign on the glass that said do not touch or tap it but there was kids that ignored the rule which I thought was disrespectful to the animals. Also the pictures you can take it said no flash photograph which I understand but some of the staff taking family photos with the flash on . The place seemed a lot bigger than before and the shop was amazing.Written 14 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - juliejfellows22Wolverhampton, UK137 contributionsThis was only a little visit and we didn’t have a good look round but it’s looked impressive and I would go again for a bit more of a look around. The tram stops right outside. The staff were really helpful.Written 26 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Marconiman12Worcester, UK8 contributionsStunning venue and could not fault the staff. The only thing that spoilt the evening was purchasing water from the bar. I asked for two bottles, one for my partner and one for me. The bottle tops were not sealed. It was obvious that they were collected bottles and simply just filled under the tap. At £3 each, it was a total ripoff!Written 2 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- SeanBean1Midlands106 contributionsI was so pleased today to see the Museum Café open again. I had
a lovely hot chocolate and the café staff are so help and pleasant.
It is a joy to go in the café which has such marvellous surroundings.
The Museum itself is one of my favourite places to visit in Birmingham.
I could spend hours in there. I know all those who visit and are connected
with the Museum are so grateful that it is now open again. It is truly something
for Birmingham to be proud of.Written 1 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The staff were LOVELY and we were shown to our table and were served by the delightful Telvin. I was with my daughter, Granddaughter and my daughter's mother in law. The food was delicious and the service was outstanding. During the interval we went back to our table for drinks. What an excellent system.
The production of 'The Nutcracker' was amazing and the scenery was stunning.Written 24 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The tour was absolutely fascinating, we loved hearing about the different characters that worked there, and seeing the different areas of the factory. We had a coffee after in the lovely cafe, and the lady there was so helpful finding us a map for the rest of our stay in Birmingham and talking us through the different attractions.
100% recommend this place. We had no idea what to expect but it truly is a little gem!Written 23 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Great to do some Christmas shopping In Person a city that has not been the victim of the ‘death of the high street’’ London is too much for me so the drive to Birmingham was a doddle.
To start with, it is incredibly busy but that’s to be expected, we did the park and ride into the city as we feared the centre would be a nightmare for parking. The parking is pretty expensive inside the bull ring so pleased we did that, also the queue of cars trying to get out of the shopping centre at 18:00 was frightening!
Now to the shops! I thought it was a fantastic Place, Christmas decorations were lovely and it all get very festive! My daughter made a beeline for selfridges, whilst i was allowed to shop in peace and get 90% of my shopping done! The food hall was impressive too- catch up with the daughter then back for round two! Could easily spend most of the day here- so nice to do a full days shopping again and not rely on ordering stuff online!
Doing a big Christmas shop again felt great, tiring but great fun having a Christmas rummage round the shops. Wish we had left more time for the Christmas markets nearbyWritten 2 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. You couldn’t find a better front of house person than Cathrine who was very knowledgeable and helpful and seemed to be very busy but nothing was a bother a very good asset to the museum
Many thanks for a great day

Staff friendly and welcoming.
Really good visit.Written 24 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - JessLiverpool, UK6 contributionsMyself and my partner [both aged 28] were recommended The Barber Institute when finishing our visit to The Victorian Radicals Exhibit in the Birmingham Museum & Gallery (by staff in the gift shop of the exhibit). We decided to visit to see the “Scent” Pre-Raphaelite Exhibit in The Barber, taking around 5 minutes on the train to get to University Station from Birmingham New Street.
We thought The Barber's Pre-Raphaelite Exhibit was outstanding and were absolutely blown away by the outstanding quality of the permanent collection as well.
We would particularly like to thank Simon for his brilliance as we explored all four art galleries. He brought to life a number of artworks and his passion and expertise on the works was a fantastic bonus. The rest of the staff were really helpful and friendly. The venue and its collection are a gem.
We look forward to visiting again (Our visit was on Saturday the 23rd of November 2024).Written 27 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Liz B11 contributionsReally interesting house full of character with furnishings and pictures from the era it was built. The property is reminiscent of National Trust properties but much more accessible for central Birmingham. It’s a shame there are few visitors as it really is a hidden gem and was thoroughly enjoyed by our whole family which included a mixed age group from 13 to 85. Maybe they can get some volunteers in to help maintain the gardens and run a tea shop?Written 1 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
