As new members of the national trust, the back to backs were our first real visit. We have talked about going before but hadn’t done it.

What an amazing place !. The guided tour lasts around an hour and a half and our knowledgable guide Linda bought it to life. The back to backs have been recreated from basically derelict buildings and give an incredible view into the past. How families lived like this even up until the 1960’s is unbelievable. It bought back memories for both of us and different features came into view.
Absolutely fantastic and a hidden treasure for the city.

pretty good and fun. The staff are horribly rude and threw chocolate at me. Would recomend to everyone in birmingham. Also a few junkies outside smoking. (Chocolate tasted good)

Excellent tour with a very knowledgeable tour guide. Caroline, who is a former ladies player with the club, showed great knowledge and passion when speaking of the club. My wife and I enjoyed our time looking behind the scenes at the club I've supported since 1989. Lots of great photo opportunities and even bumped into Alan McInally who obliged in providing a selfie which really sealed the day. Another little bonus being the 10% discount offered in the club shop with your ticket. My only regret was not being able to spend longer looking at the offerings of the grounds other stands. It would have been interesting to see the Cells and spend time in the Holte. All in all a five star experience, thank you again Caroline 🫡

This is my favourite place to visit cause I love animals also one I would love to work with animals in the near future that is my dream. It was nice to hear facts about penguins I did not know about. The only bad thing I have to say was there was a sign on the glass that said do not touch or tap it but there was kids that ignored the rule which I thought was disrespectful to the animals. Also the pictures you can take it said no flash photograph which I understand but some of the staff taking family photos with the flash on . The place seemed a lot bigger than before and the shop was amazing.

If you ever go to Birmingham, the library is a must see. It's as beautiful as huge. I just don't give it more points because the secret garden wasn't well kept and they took off the Shakespeare statue.

A lovely oasis of a garden in the heart of the city. This building and garden has an interesting history which is well explored in the exhibits - belonging to the family of a wealthy industrialist who later bequeathed it to the university, and it was only in the last 10 years refurbished and made open to the public. The garden is quite large and you could spend well over an hour wandering through if you were so inclined - with a connection to woodland and Edgbaston lake at the back. The Interior rooms give a sense of what life would have been like. There is a nice tea room looking out over the garden serving full meals; we enjoyed a tasty and filling afternoon tea with a gorgeous view overlooking the gardens.

We went to see Peter Pan matinee on the 12th Jan 25. It was brilliant! The cast were fab and we had a right laugh but we must give a big shout out to Linda, the employee who was managing the Prosecco Lounge. Her customer service was amazing and we shared with her that we loved the lounge because it helps with my husbands ADHD as he struggles with crowds. As we were brought the tickets we didn’t know where we were sitting. Linda came to find us in the auditorium to check we were ok with where we were sitting and also offered my husband to go back to the lounge if it became overwhelming so he could watch the live stream on the tv in the lounge. We always worry with places like this, and Linda made us feel so at ease! I highly recommend this lounge for those who struggle with crowds or those who want a little calm space to enjoy a drink before the performance.

We were pleased to find that the museum had partially reopened after a long closure.
It’s worth calling in if you’re passing but not worth travelling to as only a very small percentage is open. We look forward to the full reopening in the future.

Took my god daughter here (although she was definitely in charge!)

Great to do some Christmas shopping In Person a city that has not been the victim of the ‘death of the high street’’ London is too much for me so the drive to Birmingham was a doddle.

To start with, it is incredibly busy but that’s to be expected, we did the park and ride into the city as we feared the centre would be a nightmare for parking. The parking is pretty expensive inside the bull ring so pleased we did that, also the queue of cars trying to get out of the shopping centre at 18:00 was frightening!

Now to the shops! I thought it was a fantastic Place, Christmas decorations were lovely and it all get very festive! My daughter made a beeline for selfridges, whilst i was allowed to shop in peace and get 90% of my shopping done! The food hall was impressive too- catch up with the daughter then back for round two! Could easily spend most of the day here- so nice to do a full days shopping again and not rely on ordering stuff online!

Doing a big Christmas shop again felt great, tiring but great fun having a Christmas rummage round the shops. Wish we had left more time for the Christmas markets nearby

The gas street basin and the canals are pretty awesome. The canals helped the UK gain wealth and become an industrial leader and are an important part of history. It’s cool they still exist.

Visited with our 3 and 5 year old last Saturday. The children loved the top floor and we could have spent most of our time there. We appreciated the hot drinks machine meaning it was £2 each a hot drink rather than an overpriced one.
We also visited the planetarium which the kids loved and was just the right length. There is alot to see in the museum and alot of areas certainly felt well loved with buttons not working which was a shame. We were also not told about the stamps on the first floor and only saw it on the way out which was a shame as we think the kids would have loved it. Would have loved a few more hand sanny points around as it is super touchy feely. We will be back when the kids are a little older. Thankyou

Great tour which was personalised by Matt & Ben on a bright, sunny, cold day!
Very knowledgeable guides that went the extra mile to ensure we had a good time.
Toilets cosy and warm but hall itself can be cold in winter. No cafe open. Perhaps a third party may invest to reopen.
Set in a great park overlooking aston villa football ground, ideal if yr a footie fan!
A gem of history so very close to Birmingham city centre.
Thoroughly enjoyed, made possible by Matt & Ben.

We decided to visit the Pen Museum as other old industry museums in Birmingham were fascinating (Coffin Works). The Pen museum building is a lovely red brick building. It is very reasonably priced, but you also get 50% off tickets and the shop with an ArtFund pass.

There was the main information room with displays, lots of information, and an area to test out different types of pen nib. The second room was an old workshop as it would've been, with lots of old memorabilia. One of the staff also gave us a demonstration of the nib making process and we also got to try it ourselves and take a nib home with us. There was an interesting video with interviews with some of the staff and a final room with more memorabilia and typewriters in.

In particular, the staff were excellent. An older man and younger lady were extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Well worth a visit! The gift shop is also very reasonably priced, so why not get yourself a proper pen while you're there!

Good setting with a wide range of mainly smaller animals, but the environment would be nice just for a park stroll even without the wildlife. The cafe is basic with simple food (pasties, toasties etc) but served quickly by friendly staff and tasty.

We have been a regular to the botanical gardens Christmas lights for quite a few years but I have to say the light show this year didn’t live up to the hype. Some of the lights like the field of rose bulbs pulsating to the music was awesome and the disco ball high up in the trees casting fabulous shadows and sparkles were spectacular as was the bird cages with the fairy LED’s was imaginative and had our grandson enthralled.
However, there were lots of dark patches with no lights and there was no light tunnel like advertised. With that said, we will definitely be back next year as this is the start of our Christmas experience.
Now the bad stuff - the food and drink was not only extortionate but also very poor quality. I had to throw the bacon cheeseburger away as it was burned to a crisp.
We ended up queuing for donuts for an hour because the vendor decided she didn’t like me so wouldn’t serve me until everyone else waiting had been served and then had the cheek to tell me they were all in front of me ! They also didn’t apologise for keeping us waiting for an hour ! I get that they were busy but come on - an hour is ridiculous and when I challenged her she just dumped the donuts on the counter. Great to see the British customer service in action !
