Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I booked this tour for me and my 13 year old son as we were in Birmingham to watch Hamilton the night before. What a brilliant place! We were lucky enough to have Jeff as our guide, he was so engaging and full of knowledge and interesting stories. We both felt like we were part of a really great conversation on our tour, we were encouraged to ask questions and discuss things which my son really appreciated. The houses themselves were fascinating, each one recreated from a specific time in history - it was great to see how living conditions changed as time went by and to hear personalised stories of the actual people who lived there. This is a very different kind of National Trust experience and, although I was a bit nervous about booking a guided tour with a teen in tow, it ended up being an excellent decision. We both really enjoyed it.

A charming house and a surprisingly large and varied garden. Much to enjoy and learn about. But really poor catering - a very limited menu plus incorrect order was delivered. Such a shame that the cafe should not be up to the same standard as the rest of this delightful place.

Cornelius was the guide for my small, motley crew 4-person group. I was going to do a self-guided tour but now that I had the properly guided one, I strongly urge everyone to do the guided tour. The stories Cornelius shared gave life to the objects and spaces; I got a sense for the birth, life, and demise of the factory and, the people that worked there. I would go again.

Really insightful and interesting. The gentleman Simon who works there was extremely helpful and friendly. Giving lots of interesting snippets of information about the paintings. You could see how much he loves his job.
    Will be coming again

A really stunning find so near the City centre.
A bargain for Art Fund menbers (free entry) we spent at least two hours looking at the superb collections as well as the most interesting house.
Allow at least another hour for the gardens; a very good spread for all interests.
Good and easy free parking and helpful staff.
    Sadly, no cafe at present!

It is worth giving this at least 2 hours. Interesting exhibition and an unusual opportunity to use the manufacturing equipment to make your own basic nib, as well as being able to use a lot of different ones that were made earlier. Even the teenagers enjoyed it. Be prepared to get your hands inky! Great gift shop too!

This is a wonderful little museum, very family friendly and with lots of interest! Plenty to see and enjoy in the museum, but the tour is extra special! Getting to see the inner workings of jewellery making in the 50s and 60s was a real eye opener, and our wonderful tour guide gave lots of additional interesting tidbits and demonstrations.

A nice range of gifts too, from 25p for a little cut out of a dog (which you see the guide do!) to high end jewellery from a number of designers. Highly recommended for a morning or afternoon in Birmingham

Great escape room (Peaky Blinders). Themeing was spot on and cleverly done. Host was brilliant and added to the room feel. Puzzles were varied, some challenging. One of my fave puzzles so far in all the rooms we've done.
Well worth doing and thorough recommended.

This house tells an amazing story of invention, philosophy, economics and the foundations of manufacturing. The guide, Harry, was so knowledgeable and told a good story. The Museums Service have restored elements of the house with scholarly sensitivity to conjure up an insight into the far-reaching interest of Matthew Boulton and his Lunar Society friends and descendants. Beauty, science and social progress were forged here.

We went here for a second year running to see santa and he still is the best santa we have ever seen, there was a beautiful christmas market with many amazing stalls and a cafe for a festive hot chocolate. Kids then wrote to santa and posted it in the magic post box.

Blaksely Hall does functions and events all year round and at times has a history teacher join to help. It has been an amazing place to visit since my childhood and is always a nice day out, especially for younger children.

It is one of two working water mills in Birmingham and is presented by an enthusiast who makes the hour long tour both entertaining and educational. He brought it back to life but it is not fully functional as the New Hall Mill is in Walmley Sutton Coldfield. However that Mill is run by volunteers and only occasionally open . This mill has close ties with Tolkien and is an essential visit for his fans. It is close to River Cole ad Moseley Bog so you can spend some time in the locality. Unfortunately by its very nature it is not suitable for anyone with disabilities . The cafe has very limited refreshments so bring a picnic . It is poorly signposted with the satnav just off beam.

A charming and peaceful oasis of calm and quaint faded beauty. Very friendly volunteers. Great opportunity for plane spotters too. A real hidden gem.

This museum of past manufacture of silverware in the Jewellery Quarter is extraordinary. Until 6 September it is also home to an idiosyncratic exhibition of Dion Kitson's work. On our visit, two guides explained the pieces of work installed by Dion, including the iconic Tin Man, inspired by Somewhere Over The Rainbow. We were completely fascinated by the exhibition. We'll done English Heritage for staging it.
