- foxcilePeterborough, UK25 contributionsThe Midland Air Museum is an excellent place to visit, less than a minute off the A45/A46 on the Southern edge of Coventry. The staff are very friendly and helpful.
Quite rightly the museum has plenty of information and artifacts linked to Sir Frank Whittle and the history of the jet engine. All the early work taking place in Eastern Warwickshire and just over the county border into Leicestershire. In years gone by, there was a lot of aircraft production in the area and this is covered well.
There is an exhibition hall packed with aviation artifacts and a number of complete aircraft. A proper look around this area will take over and hour if you want to view all the items and read the information. If you didn't know there was more to see, this part would make a good museum in its own right.
Once outside there are another 30 or aircraft to view. With one of the museum volunteers, you can climb up inside the Vulcan. Here you get an appreciation of how dark and confined it would have been for the crews when it was in service. You can also go inside the cargo hold of the Argosy transport aircraft.
The museum has a well-stocked gift shop with books, models and a variety of other items. There is also a small cafe where you can get hot or cold drinks, sandwiches, toasties and snacks. This is reasonably priced; the food is good and prepared while you wait and brought to your table.Written 12 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - anthonygV2544IEBirmingham, UK2 contributionsWe took our granddaughter to Herbert Art Gallery after having visited the Cathedral. Having arrived at 12.30 and feeling hungry we headed for the Barista. This was a mistake! We ordered two toasties, two teas and a slice of cake. The staff had to be reminded that we were still waiting after 30 minutes and when the food came, the toasties had barley been warmed let alone toasted. For £7.30 each they were disgusting! We never received the two cups of tea and the cake was dry. I should point out that the cafe was busy at this time, however the young staff were clearly not coping too well. We left disappointed and a little worried that the gallery exhibits might be equally disappointing.
Mercifully, the gallery exhibits were for the most part very good with something for everyone and our granddaughter loved it.
We will visit again but will avoid the Barista. That way we may be able to give a 5 star rating next time.Written 4 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Peter PCoventry, UK23 contributionsWent to see a play with a friend, it was called Swim Aunty Swim, mainly set in a swimming pool in Coventry. It was written by a young Coventry woman called Siana Bangura, surely a rising talent. It was funny, warm and moving with a very imaginative set design.
We thoroughly enjoyed it and our evening and a big thank you to all the staff who made us very welcome.

Had a lovely day, but the main reason of the visit was to cool them down on the hottest day of the year in the water splash area. Alas all locked up and dryer than gandhis flip flop.
