- ladyitaWindsor, UK143 contributionsWe arrived when they opened and I was glad we did as we only managed 2/3 of the museum during opening hours. Excellent layout and something for everyone. We deliberately went midweek for a quieter experience and whilst there were some school and cadet visits it was still possible to find many quiet areas to just digest the museum at your own pace. All the interactive things were good and the talk we watched was very well done. Café food and drink is good and well priced. The abbey is in a lovely park, and easy to get to from the city centre by bus. Visited the duck/boating pond and had lunch on the deck of the cafe.
Great reminder of my childhood in Leeds and the weekly visits to feed the ducks.
Plenty of squirrels running around on the grass. Lots of families enjoying the sunshine.

The gatehouse was decked out as a big ribbon with bow and the house was decorated as an Advent Calendar. You pay as you enter at a ticket booth, or show your tickets/membership before proceeding to parking, which is plentiful.
The Christmas theme was naughty cherubs who have been causing mischief. Not quite what I expected, but it was very clever, with talking Christmas baubles, cakes and plates and a ceiling rose that changed patterns. The rooms were also decorated with trees.
By the time we got to the cafe by the house they'd sold out of most things, so we had a sausage roll, then wandered the terrace, before leaving. Beautiful display of lights and my little one loved it. - anonymous3 contributionsi went to see the script with a couple of my friends and we were shocked by how poor security was. there were no bag checks done at all. me and my two friends all had bags and not one of ours got checked and this was the same for everyone in front of us and behind us in the queue. there was also no id checks done upon entry. we overheard a group of 14&15 year olds telling people in the queue how old they were and how they were hoping they dont get id’d since you have to be 16 to attend concerts without adult supervision. these two factors are incredibly unsafe and i strongly believe that these need to be looked into. all in all, the staff we spoke to was very helpful when we entered the section where our seats were there was a staff member who guided us to our seats without us having to ask how to get to them. this was great and meant it was more or less impossible for people to be in the wrong seats. however the only fault i have with the staff was the constant walking around the sections when the support act and headlining act was on. me and my friends had our views obstructed continuously by the same staff member parading around our section just walking up and down the stairs every 20 minutes. for what reason this is i am unsure as everyone was in their seats at this pointWritten 30 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Unfortunately the upstairs of the manor wasnt open but we saw the downstairs, walked in the grounds and visited the animals. We had a bite in the cafe which was averagely priced, the ice cream man is a bit steep. Parks look great for kids. The indoor food place was packed, all food stores open and plenty of people and seats.
We still have the traditional indoor market, although it's getting smaller.

It’s in high Victorian style and its jaw dropping, from the moment you walk in. Incredible that it was going to be knocked down in the 60s. The plasterwork, tiling and glass are just incredible.
