What travellers are saying
- Colin F5 contributionsAn interesting visit and the staff were very helpful. Sadly the main entrance was closed as the area was covered in scaffolding. On the plus side it was so repairs could be carried out and a lift installed to make that part accessible - the down side was that access was through a side entrance with steep steps so it made it very difficult for one of our party with mobility issues to get into the grounds in the first instance.Written 18 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- AnzLlanelli, UK45 contributionsTook our first time climbers aged 11, 10 and 6 to try the crazy climb the instructor's were great didn't catch their names but they were fantastic with the children which put me at ease as I could tell they were in safe hands. They helped them when they needed help and gave them advice and encouragement. It was lovely to see my children's confidence growing throughout eventually getting to the top. Staff were friendly and it was a lovely atmosphere. My children really enjoyed and want to come back. We're from South Wales but we definitely want to come back to caernarfon again and make a return visit to the beacon. Highly recommended.Written 2 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Cheryl R4 contributionsThis is one of my absolute favourite places to visit when in Wales. We went during April all the shops and cafes were open and we happened to go when the sun decided to pop out. We walked upto Gelerts Grave then up the river, crossed the bridge and back towards the village. We stopped to let our Dog play in the river which she absolutely loved.Written 14 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Bev RBarnoldswick, UK148 contributionsGreat little find for the young ones. Very reasonably priced and lots of random activities and animals. Highly recommended 👌Written 25 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- WorldwideRover007United States2,777 contributionsVery nice walk along the river. It is a very scenic area and perfect for a picnic. Enjoyed the history and ruins of the grave. Free.Written 8 February 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Bird762014Huddersfield, UK54 contributionsDrove past this place a couple of times on a recent holiday so popped in one evening
.
So glad we did, loved it especially in the early evening sunshine. It had a magical feel to it and we will go back another time to really explore it properly.
The Welsh Highland railway runs through part of it and we caught a train passing through there a couple of days later and it was a really great spot for this.Written 25 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - 923DanSwindon, UK2,760 contributionsDriving back from Caernarfon, passed through Aberglaslyn Pass, Beddgelert.
Stunning mountain-countryside - even in the rain.
Lots of walking options.
Well worth visiting.Written 5 November 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - annericho2016St Helens, UK18 contributionsThe vineyard has a lovely restaurant serving wonderful food in very clean surroundings. There are opportunities to book a tour of the winery and buy the wines and ciders they make. The staff are so friendly and helpful, including the owner. On top of all this are the amazing and glorious views. Well worth a visit.Written 15 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- debraPreston, UK9 contributionsGreeted by a lovely lady who told us all about the history of the site. Told the grounds were bequeathed to the local council and the house has been sold again for development . The gardens have lots of little paths with a river meandering through. Good for all abilities as there are both flatter n steep sections to access most of the garden. Cafe has lovely food - a tad expensive but vet niceWritten 24 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Tudur PCaernarfon, UK4 contributionsA lovely place for a coffee and panini or a sandwich. The staff are attentive and friendly with good humour. The building is modern and clean and I found it to be a nice place to pass the time.Written 17 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- AndydjpStotfold, UK571 contributionsWe were passing by and decided to pop in for a visit. Car park is free. It is £10 per adult to enter for a self tour. It is an interesting place to visit with plenty of information on the history of the mine. There are 110 metal steps mid way through so wear good shoes. When you come out at the top of the mine you are welcomed by fantastic views across the valley. There is a small gift shop and cafe on site. If visiting a mine is on your agenda I would recommend.Written 3 October 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- theatkinsons1York, UK38 contributionsVisiting this tranquil place is a 'must see' no matter what your age. It oozes charm. It has the most beautiful setting with amazing walks, quaint coffee shops, pubs and gift shops. It also has a railway which we didn't have time to use....but we will revisit. It wasn't too busy when we visited and words cant describe it adequately enough. Absolutely stunning!!Written 18 February 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- NannyharlowHarlow, UK19 contributionsWe went to the Quarry hospital but it was closed. However the walk up from the car park (which costs £5 all day )and the views from the front of the hospital were worth the effort.Written 10 October 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Juliet MLondon, UK70 contributionsWe had no idea this little gem was tucked away in the castle but were delighted to find it! A museum full of interest for all sorts of reasons. Not only does it plot the history of a proud regiment but it is full of personal touches about the men who served in the many campaigns in which they served. The military historians and the family visitors can all find something of interest. The guide book is good but the friendly and informative staff are on hand to provide even more information.Written 8 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- WorldwideRover007United States2,777 contributionsFantastic place.
Loads of local gifts, books, pamphlets for trails, places to stay and eat. There were books about trails, the history, rivers, and interesting childrens books.
Staff is knowledgeable about the area and was able to recommend Gelerts Grave and affordable eateries.
Street Parking or there is a parking lot down the block.Written 8 February 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
