Well worth the visit , such a eye opener how the miners worked back in the day
Such dangerous conditions , the miners , staff and family’s were all hero’s everyone of them.
Embrace the Museum it’s well worth a visit - don’t take my word for it add it to your “things to do” next time you are in Llanberis.
    A TIP……
Park on the other side of the lake close to the “giant sword” parking there is by the hour we’re as close to the museum it’s either £( or £7 all day.

Lovely walk around this beautiful lake. It was very busy however being on the edge of the town so not peaceful but the lake itself was pretty

This free to visit North Wales attraction is a real gem. Although it was raining when we visited, the museum was well attended by other visitors. All aspects of slate mining are displayed, and often there are real life slate splitters and other artisans on site. There are three cottages showing mining family life over the centuries. Also a nice little cafe and large car park.

Free to visit just have to find somwhere to park. The car park opposite the site is cheaper than the one near the railway station for snowdon so take note!
It was a nice thing to visit but I would recommend then going to the Slate mine museum just up the road. Not alot going on at the castle but beautiful views and s alittle information about it.

A straight forward, fairly wide easy to follow path compared to the Pyg path. You get to see the railway beside you too.

From the tourist guide we went to the Honey Farm for a bite to eat for lunch only to find the coffee shop closed
We had a look around the honeys and meads and chatted with the beekeeper owner who was very knowledgeable about his products

Definitely don't sleep on this waterfall just because of the lack of reviews!
To be honest, the waterfall was the most beautiful attraction in Llanberis, and that includes Snowdon!

The viewing point is also right next to a train track and you can see a steam train pass by - feels like you're on an adventure!

A lovely medieval building which can provide a restful place, whatever your beliefs. St Padarn was the founder of Llanberis. There was a service going on when I entered and it seemed anyone could join the congregation.

People who walk up mountains tend to want to eat healthy or energy food.

Going up you need lots of energy, chocolate bars, bananas, drinks.

At the top you want hot soup, decent hot food, tea, toilet. Poor quality pasties, sausage rolls & cakes is not what you are looking for! I understand the logistical issues getting stuff up there but come on at least take up decent stuff for us to eat rather than cheap pasty mountain!

Then opening hours. I cannot see why the opening hours / dates are so restrictive! The weather and climbers don't check the date of their journey, they look at the weather. There is no reason why a staff train could not run and open the place most of the year round, subject to weather & track works.

    More effort please!!

Then tickets down - come on, you need a system not a lottery!! You know how many seats were booked upwards only, so you know the seat availability down.

If mountain landscapes are your thing this is just the place for you. Lots of images by a variation of artists.
