Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Excellent customer service with a company that clearly values long term business relationships. I dealt with Tra and purchased online from a distance. They also hand a very nice external delivery service from Belfast to Cork and beyond

I visited with a US group of twenty. Robbie met us at the front door, full of life & fun. It's a beautiful centre, "as Gaeilge".
The dinner was beautiful tender beef, fresh veg & delicious gravy. Wonderful flautist played throughout dinner on the side.
Then through to the main event with dessert. The MC was funny, wise and a great story teller. The Irish dancers did not disappoint. They were fabulous. Members of the audience were invited to join them dancing. They did extremely well.
    A really great night.

Great to have such a good art venue in the centre of Belfast, easy to walk to from both central train stations and easy access to the main shopping streets, restaurants etc. The venue itself is fully accessible, lift access to the upper floor gallery, accessible toilets. We visited the exhibitions in the two main spaces, the top gallery in particular is an awesome space, and we spent time in the hub with my son enjoying doing some drawings, staff were very friendly and welcoming and even spent time drawing with my son.

    Powerful

Outstanding way to highlight the lack of care on offer to anyone with stage 4 breast cancer

    Shocking but true

These ladies deserve the very best in treatment and care along with compassion and understanding.

QSS Gallery and Studios is an artist led organisation which supports the work of contemporary visual artists. The exhibitions change every 4-6 weeks and show the work of both emerging and established artists from Northern Ireland and abroad. Above the ground floor gallery there are some 25 artists who work in a variety of media. The studios are open to the public on certain days throughout the year but the gallery is the public facing part of the organisation. It's free and a great opportunity to see the work of emerging artists. The work is not necessarily commercial, but is for sale.

This art gallery is free to enter. I called in with friends. Lots of rooms with paintings by different artists. Two sculptures really intrigued me. One artist had made these bizarre tubular, long legged dogs (see photo). They were textured and coloured like beagles, but were so surprisingly contorted. Elsewhere someone clever had woven, crochet-style, two balaclavas. They're normally black and menacing, covering the faces of paramilitaries, so this was a startling culture clash - the brutal meets the delicate, force meets finesse. Very interesting. I like to take note of artists' names, but we only arrived near closing time, and had to hurry on. I plan to go back for a better look.

My first visit, 07/09/2017, introduced me to a gallery I've heard much about. It lived up to it's reputation. Brimming with challenging, contemporary art tackling the big issues of our time, Catalyst is not for the faint-hearted. This uber-cool, industrial, warehouse suits the art it showcases (installation, conceptual, screen etc) and the radical art on display perfectly suits the space.

Numerous artists were represented, but I was especially drawn to American/ Metis artist Dylan A T Miner's red wall hangings, called "Gesture of Solidarity". Miner deals with indigenous/ colonial themes and his banners dominated the gallery, catching the eye, demanding attention and investigation. Fantastic work.

Catalyst is volunteer run/ nonprofit and as well as serving up fascinating experimental art, it runs a range of events, screenings and activities such as the Anarchist Bookfair. Quite possibly one of the most exciting art spaces in Belfast. I'm only sorry it took me so long to get round to visiting...

Eakin's my favourite art gallery on the Lisburn Road. A lovely little family run gallery spanning two floors of a red brick townhouse. Specialists in contemporary Irish art they also have some pieces from the past as well. You'll find a range of Artists' work here including George Callaghan, Brian Ballard, Neil Shawcross, Dean McDowell, Louis le Brocquy, J B Vallely and Terry Bradley amongst others.

I always call in for a look when I pass Eakin. Yesterday I visited to view the beautiful, stylised, atmospheric paintings of George Callaghan. His harvest sunset paintings are mesmerising and I adore his 'Purple Haze' landscapes. A beautiful exhibition for this time of year as we near the end of October.

Prices vary, ranging from smaller works for a few hundred pounds to larger paintings for a few thousand. If I win the lotto I may one day be able to buy instead of just browse! The owner Brian Eakin is very welcoming and their website's kept fully updated with all current paintings listed. However nothing beats a stroll through Eakin Gallery to see the paintings in the flesh.

Vault Artist Studios is a treasure to have in Belfast. From their studio spaces to their exhibitions to their always amazing markets - they really punch above their weight. There is always something interesting and new to discover or attend and if you're interested in the arts of any kind, I highly recommend checking out their upcoming events and opportunities.

On a recent tour, part of Eastside Arts Festival 2017, someone on the bus mentioned that they wanted to see some 'proper art'. By this they meant no more installation or conceptual art, instead they wanted art in more 'traditional' forms, such as painting, drawing and sculpture. Luckily enough, our next stop was ArtisAnn Gallery. I must admit that I too am enthusiastic about 'proper art' and this is just what you'll find here. However, it's not old-fashioned or boring, instead ArtisAnn is packed with exciting, contemporary, inspirational art that'll make you wish you had the wall space and money to buy it all! A truly fantastic spot showing both established and emerging Artists. I can't really describe in words just how beautiful this gallery is or how wonderful the work on display is - instead it's best to visit in person to see, enjoy and buy for yourself. Prepare to be bedazzled!

We love the demesne and drive in. The house was beautiful as well. A family member had artwork on display with his art club. Beautiful cantilevered staircase up - lovely quiet and bright venue to showcase amateur artists.

Although Artcetera is a centrally located gallery in the city and I've passed it many times - I've never previously noticed its existence! Because it sits slightly back from the pavement on Rosemary Street, it is easily overlooked. However, l visited on 03/08/17 with Belfast Art Bus Tour and saw VISAGE, The Face of Drag, a creative collaboration and exhibition by Photographer Carrie Davenport, nightclub promoter Aaron Eakin and Kaisen Print. This consisted of photographic portraits of Belfast-based Drag Queens in both male and Drag identities. It was a fabulous, entertaining and enthralling show. Artcetera gallery itself had a wonderful night club ambience with a lovely bar made from wine bottles - a delightful discovery and a real hidden gem.
