Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A fabulous way to spend an afternoon (or a morning if you are a morning person) in Aberdeen.
This Gin masterclass was a birthday treat and one of the best I have ever received. I did not exactly know what to expect so I would not want to spoil it for someone else, but let’s say that if you are a gin lover this is definitely for you.
Don & Alan, the founders of Aberdeen city Gin distillery have for sure polished their masterclass: there is no rest for one’s curiosity and enthusiasm. While you will learn about spirits, gin, the distilleries in Aberdeen and the shire, visit the facility, get a glimpse of the process and have very generous tastes of the house production (on that note you should walk to the Distillery or take a bus or a cab!) , you understand you are going to professionally make your own gin! and this is a huge responsibility!
All those spices, flowers, herbs... It is a very good thing that Alan & Don guide you through your choices to help materialise one of your dreams in a bottle you will bring home, named, professionally labelled and sealed. The temptation is too big to put too much!
Then, once home, starts another one which is : wait for the aromas to settle and apparently it takes 3 months!

Ryan took us on a tour and showed us the gin making process. Awesome guy who dealt with us so well considering we were quite boozy. Would definitely recommend this place

Never stop loving the decor and ambience of Grape & Grain. A warm welcome from lovely staff and an added bonus of live music on this occasion. The whole place oozes class and professionalism. Great to see it busy on a Thursday evening. I must also say, I don't think I have ever seen such spotless toilets anywhere! Great work, keep it up and look forward to returning soon!

Just a word of advice for anyone wanting to visit - this bar is currently closed for refurbishment again. There's a notice up on the door saying they won't be open again until May.

Also their bottle shop which opened a couple of months ago on St Andrews Street hasn't been open for the last few weeks. When I passed it today all the stock was gone so I guess thats shut too.

Big shout out to Alex from Grampian Escapes and Tours for my tour of Aberdeenshire today. A thoroughly enjoyable and informative day, topped off with a visit to the iconic Dunnottar Castle. Highly recommended.

Attended a tailored cocktail session at the wonderful “Library” setting on premise at Housr of Botanicals in Aberdeen this weekend past. The session was titled “Hauf and Hauf” based around the old Scottish practice of having a half beer with a “Hauf” or small spirit drink.

The tasting paired three spirit based drinks with three offering styles of beers. As usual (yes, I have enjoyed cocktail sessions with the owner Adam before), the session was informative, challenging, and the beverages utterly delicious. The breadth of knowledge which Adam has regarding spirits, cocktails, drinks history, flavour profiles etc is incredible. He works hard at his art.

Enjoyable convivial surroundings, great company, great drinks, tasty accompanying nibbles, great banter, and highly informative.

I will for sure be going to more of these sessions (in fact, am booked already for another in a couple of weeks).

Thoroughly recommend booking his upcoming Festive Drinks session, or simply buying some stuff from his online shop. Great guy, great products, great business. Support local.

Anna organised an absolutely incredible wine & cheese tasting for us. I’m not even a white wine person and I came away speechless in the most positive way at some of the combinations and how they changed the flavour. Anna is super knowledgeable and friendly on top, recommend 100%

What a great fun, interesting and informative tour we had. Learned things about our home town we didn’t know, and Alan our guide was so great at describing our taster beers, of which we had a few different choices. He did so well keeping us interested and all together, and made sure we had plenty opportunities to ask any questions. Highly recommended.
