Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is mainly a seventeenth century reconstruction and very beautiful with great views of the river Nith. The original bridge was washed away in floods and with funding from King James, reconstructed in 1625 - this is that bridge. The gothic arch at one end may possibly be from the original construction. A few hundred yards downstream was the spot where nine witches were strangled and burned to death on Whitesands overlooking the river. They were later exonerated by the church authorities who had condemned them 'on false evidence' but of course that did them no good (!) Dumfries is a beautiful little town with a rich and interesting history and Devorgilla Bridge holds a special place.

Even though the map shows where it should be, it is hard to spot the site. Although it is the largest stone circle in mainland Scotland, I was a bit underwhelmed. Not the place to go when it has been raining hard and the field is all muddy.

This isn't my favourite bridge in dumfries but it's still great. It's not the oldest bridge in dumfries but i like it even though its a bit modern.

It was a shame to look closely at this monument . Beautiful marble panel covered in dirt. The beautifully carved ram's heads were my favourite part. No doubt in his day the 3rd Earl of Queensberry was revered, unfortunately no longer!

Lovely local landmark. Does need fome TLC and repairs. A bit vulnerable to damage from errant vehicles at what is a busy junction in Dumfries. Council do plant some lovely flowers here every year though.
