Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Crossed the border into Gretna Green just because, well, you have to. Never been before and it was worth the hour of our day to have a look around. Not at all tacky and genuinely quite an interesting visit, if only to say you've been.
The spurtle alone bought from the impressive gift shop made the day and it's been stirring everything I've cooked ever since that day. From casserole to curry, but sadly no porridge.

We visited the Wall of Love at Gretna Green whilst on a one day visit to the town on a Monday morning in July. We had travelled to Gretna Green by train from Carlisle and the attractions here are a short walk from the station. The wall is located near to the coach parking and so slightly away from the main attractions.
The wall is made from large letters forming the word ’LOVE’ onto which couples may attach a padlock celebrating their relationship (padlocks are available for purchase in the nearby souvenir shops). A free attraction and a bit of fun if you are visiting the area.

This was the former ground of Gretna FC but nowadays Gretna 2008 FC play their home matches here. Much of this low-rise ground offers standing room only but there is seating in the two stands. There’s a certain run-down charm about the place, as it is over 70 years old. Expect a good 20 minute walk from Gretna Green train station to get here.

We passed the Gretna War Memorial whilst on a one day visit to the town on a Monday morning in July. We had travelled to Gretna Green by train from Carlisle and the war memorial was on route to the Blacksmiths shop opposite the parish church.
Commemorating the dead of two world wars, the memorial sits prominently on a small grassed area surrounded on three sides by roads and is quite simple in its design. The stark black lettering recording the names of the fallen is in contrast to the white stone of the memorial. One cannot but wonder when visiting these memorials, what the effect on the village was to lose these young men particularly when some of the surnames are common to multiple entries (as is the case here).

Lovely little maze with a romantic motif. A great way to spend 15-20 minutes. Nice pictures and quotes along the way. Only a few steps away from the main retail centre of the complex.
