Visited here on a weekend in Dundee, and as my husband is a huge fan of Shackleton so this was a must see. The ship is in a dry dock just past the V & A, but entry is via a very modern visitor centre. It was an amazing museum, so much information , at first I thought it might be be overload. However it was so interesting telling the story not only of the boat, its crew , the Antarctic survey teams and how it was linked to whaling. There are interactive section, videos, and personal testimonies from the crew . of course everyone knows of Scott and Shackleton but it fascinating to get to know all the other members . We spent 2hrs looking around the exhibition before moving onto the boat, it is currently having a lot of renovation done but you can still walk around much of the boat . It was incredible how much stores they had to get on board , and where they fitted it all in ! It was also interesting to see the cabins and living quarters of such historic iconic adventurers. Staff were friendly and welcoming and it was the best museum on our visit. Highly recommend

A very enjoyable visit to this museum. Thanks to the friendly and very knowledgeable staff.
I hear some farmers are piloting using sisal to bale hay as opposed to plastic twine - could there be an opportunity here to create a working museum?

A friend had advised us to try to squeeze in a visit when our priorities for a 1.5days visit to Dundee were the Kimono to Catwalk exhibition at the V&A (wonderful building as well as exhibition) and The Discovery. We were not disappointed by either of these two but were bold over by HMS Unicorn. We arrived at the same time as another couple so took an ad-hoc tour lead by a Volunteer, a young man with incredible nautical, historical and social historical knowledge. He shared all this within our spontaneous reactions to the detail he gave us at each point we stopped, responsing to all our questions fully and most interestingly.
We intend to return to Dundee, take a walking tour, cycle down the riverside and definitely visit here again. The intention is to move HMS Unicorn to a nearby dry dock are once this is completed; be great for the ship and even more of interest for the visitors.

What a wonderful 2 hours. Beautiful, chilled, well loved animals. Can't recommend this enough. Alison was a fabulous informative host. My Mum and I had the best time. We met so many characters, all with a story. We got to choose our Alpaca friend to walk. Mum chose Dolce and I chose Glee. Beautiful Alpaca girls. I'm still smiling 😃.

If you want a breathtaking, panoramic , 360 degree view of the city , that stretches for miles around - this is the place to come. At 174 metres high, the Law is the highest point in the city, and a great place to take in the fabulous views of Dundee’s iconic 🌉 , the mighty Tay, the rolling hills of Fife across the river, and the Sidlaw Hills inland. The Law is actually an extinct ancient volcano 🌋 cone formed around 400 million years ago. At the summit is the city’s War Memorial , a small carpark, viewing area with info boards, benches, and a telecommunications station with a tall mast. Even the circular drive up is a bit of a thrill, while more energetic people can climb up and take in the diverse nature of the wildflowers, trees, insect & animal life that thrive here. I’d recommend that every visitor to Dundee should come up here for a look - but be prepared, as it’s almost always windy 🌬️.

I enjoyed my visit to the castle, whilst staying locally. There are some informative displays of local history. Parking was available, alternatively a short walk from the bus stop & local train station.

Great place to spend an hour or two. Went during school times so had peace and quiet to meander about the exhibits and mull over the info. Staff, who are vollenteers are on hand with aditional information about the displays and up for a chat about the vehicles.
Deffinitly worth a visit. Wee cafe and wee shop. Always have a cup o tea or buy a couple things from shop as helps out with funds.. gotta keep these places going...

Great time had by all at Dundee Science Centre today. My first time going and I wasn’t disappointed. Lots of interactive and hands on things to do. My 9 year old son loved cutting out the paper shapes and watching them blow on the wind turbine. He enjoyed the building section with bricks and a crane and there were dress up sections for the children too . He also loved the huge water play bit and the sensory room. There was a tunnel slide and lots to do even for adults to join in like beat the buzzer, illusions etc.

On the 9th of May we came here for a day of activities as part of our last year of primary school. It was super fun with lots of things to do. There was a variety of play equipment and different areas so we were spaced out. No one had to hang around waiting for their turn to have a go.
There was a grass area by the play park perfect to play football, however the grass was too long and we ended up not playing.
We were very impressed with how clean the park was. There was no litter in the play area nor dog poo on any of the paths or grass areas!
The toilets were open and very clean! We were surprised with our modern and clean they looked.
Unfortunately we were disappointed that the shop was closed and we didn't have a chance to buy an ice cream.
We would most certainly go back!
