Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A nice square with some very fine Neo-Gothic and Scots Baronial buildings such as the McManus Gallery and Trinity Hall, not to mention statues of some of Dundee’s most famous people including Oor Wullie sitting opposite TSB.

This memorial was presented on 28/12/ 2013 - significantly exactly 134 years since the fateful collapse of the first Tay Bridge ( 1879) which killed a suspected 59 people in a train crossing the river, as they plunged into the icy waters below during a violent storm. There were no survivors. An inquiry into the disaster found that the engineer in charge of it’s construction , Sir Thomas Bouch, had created a seriously flawed and flimsy design with inferior materials, and his bridge maintenance was under par. He was disgraced, and died impoverished less than a year later. This memorial consists of 3 x 8 foot , grey, rectangular , granite blocks , with the names of the known passengers and crew of the doomed train inscribed, as well as an engraved illustration. It’s fittingly situated beside the mighty Tay, poignantly in sight of the replacement Tay Rail Bridge.

My daughter joined me up at the monument, which I've visited with my family... I told her about her great uncle being in the black watch while she drank her frappuccino, being patient for 5 minutes; until she cried out its too cold Mum. I'm freezing and look at my hair, it's too windy. Please can we go to the car.

Beautiful view of Dundee, but yeah it's awfy windy. 😊

This is a fabulous , flat , surfaced stretch alongside the mighty river Tay - so suitable for most abilities. It’s also popular with cyclists ( who ring their bell to let you know they’re approaching) joggers and dog-walkers . The ever changing views of the Tay Road & Rail Bridges , and across the water to the kingdom of Fife are mesmerising. There is plenty seating along the route, a choice of waterside cafes and restaurants, and several monuments, murals, memorials and statues to look out for along the way.

This gallery usually provides a variety of exhibitions throughout the year, some of which can be hit and miss, but since it's free it's definitely worth a wee visit if you're exploring Dundee on the cheap! Since this gallery is attached to/ in Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design, it does feeeel like a university gallery more than a standard art gallery, but that doesn't really detract from anything if the artwork is interesting to you.

Piece of the city’s history, very close to the Indigo Hotel, so you walk past it on your way to the city, so not too hard to miss.

Cox's Stack is an 85m high chimney that’s part of the Cox Brothers' Camperdown Works jute factory that finally ceased production in 1981 after over 100 years of work. It’s an strangely pretty chimney of Italianate design and a nice reminder of Dundee’s industrial past. If you’re driving into Dundee, especially from the west, it’s definitely worth a detour.

This small side street is less than 10 minutes walk from the City Square so if you're a fan worth the walk. It's a pedestrian street to nowhere though it is a cut through to the Verdant Works. Nice cartoon featuring the eponymous kids on the street sign, worth a selfie

Meadowside St Paul's Church is very easy to find, as it stands on a corner site. Nice architecture, and well worth a visit.

This monument was raised by the police of Dundee in tribute to their comrades who served as soldiers and fell in the First World War. It’s a standard Celtic design with a nimbus. The front of the cross is elaborately decorated with Celtic knots. In addition there is a large boss in the centre of the cross with four smaller bosses surrounding it on the arms and stem. The monument stands appropriately outside the Dundee Sheriff Court and Police Station.

Fountain on the Dundee waterfront in honour of Alexandra, queen consort to King Edward VII. The fountain is a Neoclassical design, predominantly Doric order down to the simplified entablature. The centrepiece of the fountain is a cherub carrying a fish almost too big for the baby angel to carry. Pity water no longer flows, except for the rain beating down on the one day I visit Dundee.

He flew from the tay to west Africa in a world record time in 1938. The world record has been beaten but you still got to commemorate the guy for beating the time.

Rule Britannia was on the top of this surprising beautiful building. The building is worth a little look at and maybe a photo stop.

Happened on this by accident walking from Premier Inn Dundee West to Ninewells Hospital. Obviously once cared for but now overgrown.

This is one of the older buildings in Dundee. On the clock it said 1732 which probably suggests that's when it was built. A pretty pinky coloured building.
