Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- roberta_uk98Glenrothes, UK133 contributionsI was swithering between Johnny Walker and the Whisky Experience and neither seemed what we were looking for. And then I saw the Port of Leith Distillery and knew we had to go here. We visited the Gin place two years ago and it was excellent - and the whisky distillery didn't disappoint.
Our guide Leo was excellent and explained everything very well. You get lots of tastes, as well as a wee bottle to take home, and the views from the windows at the top of the 'vertical distillery' are amazing. If you're at all interested in how whisky is made then you must go - a 35 bus will take you there from the High Street!Written 11 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The places our guide, Ian, took us were really nice and beautiful spots.
I would recommend this tour to anyone visiting Edinburgh!Written 30 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It could not have been better. He showed us everything we wanted and much more. We even got to feed the coos. We highly recommend this company.Written 5 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Julie PNashville, TN64 contributionsThis is our second tour with Ronnie Berri. Our first was in 2019 and we toured Speyside. Our trip 5 years ago was so wonderful we wondered if there could possibly be an experience as good or even better than our previous tour. And guess what….THIS year’s trip with Ronnie was even better!!!! This time we toured the Highlands, Isle of Mull, and Campbelltown…ALL fabulous areas for whisky exploration. Ronnie worked with us to design a 5 day, extensive experience that took us to every distillery we wanted to visit and more. We did have plenty of time to explore the history of the areas as well with stops at castles, memorials, and ancient sights. His hotel recommendations were great and he always steered us to good restaurants. He handled ferry schedules and distillery tastings/tours appointments with ease. The touring van served as an “educational center” as Ronnie developed our tastes for a variety of whiskies and discussed Scottish history as well as the history of the areas distilleries. The van was comfortable and our two drivers were excellent (kudos to Bruce and Alan!). We WILL do this again for a different region of Scotland and we WILL travel and plan with Ronnie. Thanks, Ronnie, for yet another unforgettable experience!!!Written 23 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Vicki KCupar, UK25 contributionsGreat gin tasting, loved the cocktails and Rachel was very knowledgeable about the brand and friendly. Loved being able to make the cocktail and chat with the other guests.Written 19 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sarah k2 contributionsGreat experience. We went on a rainy day and still had a great time. Very informative. Tasting sizes were more than we expected and the welcome cocktail was so good. Afterwards, we went to the restaurant for desserts and warm beverages. Both were good. We sat outside bc the greenhouse was full. I believe they take reservations and would recommend doing so. Staff was well informed and couldn't have been nicer.Written 30 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Mathias I25 contributionsLearning the difference between single blend and single malt, how various types of oakes make different barrels, what an octave is, and what makes peat whiskey special.
A very enjoyable and informative tour where you'll try rare whiskey and find which type of whiskey is yours.

- Hillary S1 contributionIn planning our trip to Scotland, we were trying to determine how to best see a few specific sites without having to deal with a tour bus or navigate the roads. Luckily for us we stumbled across Wee Scottish Tours. Kevin was so responsive and made planning this trip as easy as possible. Not only did he handle booking our tickets for a few tours but he added additional sites for us to check out along the way. There was a last minute cancellation with one of the distilleries and he was able to use his contacts to ensure we didn't miss out by making sure we had a great bottle to taste from his private collection and actually introduced us to something we liked even better! We enjoyed Kevin's knowledge, interesting stories and sense of humor. This tour was one of the highlights of our trip and we appreciated his recommendations for how we spent the rest of our time in Edinburgh (one of his recommendations was another highlight of the trip for us). We highly recommend him to anyone who is looking for a thoughtful and well planned excursion. We're looking for to our next trip with Kevin soon!

However, the 6 days that we spent touring Scotland were the most memorable and magical ever, all because of our driver/guide Colin from MTB Private Tours. From the moment we met him he was courteous, kind, accommodating, and helpful. His knowledge of the country, its history, its culture, its little known sights, and its good restaurants, was extraordinary! If I asked him a question about anything and he didn’t have an answer, he would research it at night and give us the information the next day!! The saddest part of our trip was our final day when we had to part ways with Colin! We hope he knows that he was responsible for giving us our trip of a lifetime!Written 10 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Austin P7 contributionsPete was an excellent guide who provided wonderful commentary on the sights we were seeing and culture of Scotland. He felt very down to earth and was very easy to talk to. If we go back to Scotland I would certainly look to use him again!Written 16 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Texian1949Dallas, TX37 contributionsJim was our driver/guide for four days. Four great days. Jim is friendly, funny, understanding and obviously knows his way around Scotland. One of our requests was to visit the Scottish village, not a regular attraction, where my wife began school while her father was stationed in Scotland with the USAF. He was informative with lots of Scottish history with many wonderful stories. Always positive and always helpful. I cannot say enough kind things about him. A delight to be with.Written 4 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Terry G1 contributionThis tour was fantastic. A great mix of the new and the old of whisky in the Edinburgh area. Glenkinchie was lovely and the tour was very informative. We both learned a thing or two, while being entertained.
Malt whisky society was outstanding. Good food and some of the best whisky around.
Holyrood distillery is a new distillery that is one to watch for the future. Their current 4 year old whisky is more complex than most older whiskies on the market.
Our driver Billy was full of information, a good laugh and was on time and very knowledgeable about the local area and whisky tours around Scotland.Written 24 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
