Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Alma DMillet, Canada13 contributionsWe stayed at the brittanica hotel just right next to the Leith walk. It is a great short cut to many areas. Nature, birds, water and when you feel the need to get out of the city. We walked it every day using google maps to lead the way.Written 11 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - craigluscarDunfermline, UK13,186 contributionsTook a wee trip over to have a walk round two reservoirs just south of Edinburgh. Just 5 mins from the junction for Colinton .Driving up I passed Bobcat Alpacas so I knew I was on the right road .
I parked the car at the top car park for Bonaly Country Park. There is a good information map of the area . The only draw back was the constant climb to get to the Bonaly Reservoir which was built in 1853 ,it took me 50 minutes on the way up and less than half an hour coming down (I am not as young as I used to be ) It is a reasonable size of reservoir ideal for bank fishing. I was talking to one of the anglers there and he said there were Perch up to one and a half pounds , the occasional pike is caught ,he had never caught a trout here but he knew people that had . The water is quite low from the overflow possibly to lessen maintenance on the dam wall . The water is not used in the mains for Edinburgh . The view from the dam is fantastic as it stand 1100 feet above sea level with the castle and the south of Edinburgh laid out in front of you right across to Fife and the Forth Bridges .A lot of dog walkers with their dogs off the lead but there are no sheep to worry . If you have a young family and are reasonably fit it is a fine walk with great views ,many walkers were walking a lot further into the Pentlands than I was . Plenty of mountain bikes making short work of the climb until I looked more closely and saw they were electric !! Talking to one brave cyclist who was cycling the old fashioned way ,he had nothing but contempt for these Pseudo cyclists . He preferred the challenge of not having a battery and being a lot fitter than the rest . I then walked over to Torduff Reservoir which was built in 1848 and along the dam wall at Torduff and noted the sharp sides to the loch there is obviously no easy way to fish here . I did see several fish rising though and some wildfowl on the water . Looking down the Glen you can see the old filter beds no longer used . There are two other reservoirs in the Park if you are feeling fit Glencorse which is past Bonaly and over the hill and Clubbiedean which literally runs into Torduff.Written 27 March 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
