Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
Learn more about our review moderation.

What travellers are saying
- Harigovind ValsakumarIrinjalakuda, India303 contributionsLarge and peaceful gardens with different types of flowers and trees and is perfect for a quiet evening stroll. - HemsDChurch Stretton, UK24 contributionsWe throughly enjoyed our walk to and around Dean's village.
We walked from the bridge near Britannia Hotel and walked along the Water of Leith past the weir to the Dean's village view points. We also carried on to see the milling stones and the well which are both past Dean's village.
A comfortable walk with a good path and lots of photo opportunities.
Whether you are going for the nature and exercise or the photoshoot, it's worth a visit!Written 15 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. However, I was surprised by how small it was actually, within half an hour I had browsed the full market, talked to stall holders, bought coffee and food, and was finished.
I would recommend the Paella though, best I've ever tried!!Written 30 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - Weary TravelleryLexington, KY158 contributionsModern 2 is the kind of art gallery where you really can find something for everyone - yes, there are a lot of "old paintings hanging on the walls" but also a lot of unexpected things like a giant welded stainless steel robot and stenciling all up the sides and roof of the central stairwell.
We walked up the delightful river path from Dean Village to get here, so parking wasn't an issue for us. The current exhibit is The Art of Change, 1900 - 1980, and I think the museum did a great job of presenting each decade with carefully chosen pieces in a variety of mediums, instead of just tossing everything out into a big jumble. My wife and I enjoyed going from room to room and floor to floor, seeing how what is considered art changed and evolved over time.
Not to be missed is the recreation of the studio of Scottish artist Eduardo Paolozzi. It gives a different meaning to the word Hoarder but it's fun to stand there and let your eye roam over the shelves and bins and piles of ... stuff.
The gift shop is well stocked and eclectic and the small cafe dished up a superb scone and tea to keep us going.Written 22 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Fantastic exhibition on at the current time
Unfortunately the gallery is a fair walk from the city centre - I ended up using the tram to west end and then walking.Written 18 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There are playing pitches, a playground, large pond (home to model boat club) and areas for dogs to roam free! You have views of Edinburgh including the Castle.Written 12 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - edinburghcitymomEdinburgh, UK1,284 contributionsIf you are visiting the modern art gallery TWO, then step behind the building, at the car park to this world of amazing tombs and monuments. It's a short circular walk full of fascinating graves and interesting historical tributes to Edinburgh wealthy lords and ladies, from the Victorian days to the present.
Look out for the Fallen soldier Colonel Robert Smith, who led the charge at Fort Craig, died aged 26, from the 10th Mississippi regiment.
The cemetery path is uneven but easy to follow. You can leave by the far end, if you turn left then you are on Queensferry road and it's 10 mins walk to the West End. The cemetery closed at 5pm daily.Written 15 April 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - CT7 contributionsA Pause on a Nice Walk
This is a charming pause on the walk along the river on a flat path from Stockbridge to Deans Village.
Close walk 20 minutes from Charlotte Square but not enough interest in the Well if you are not in the area already.Written 10 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Edintravel1Edinburgh, UK405 contributionsI don’t echo the review before mine which said cocktails were pre made as I asked for a cocktail off menu and it was made fresh. Friendly service. A little lacking in atmosphere due to being quiet and unable to play music but this is not the venues fault and they have taken all relevant precautions. Opening the doors for airflow I understand however it does make the bar a little cold and let’s in a few more beasties who are attracted to the cocktail glasses! Nice drinks and not too overpriced for what you get.Written 19 September 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
