Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- StirlingtecKillearn, UK100 contributionsReally friendly starter and members, everyone went out their way to say hello and welcome. Condition of the course was spectacular, and the views are simply incredible. The view from the 13th green must be one of the best from any golf hole. We got it on a warm sunny day which helped. Fairways are wide although it’s not a simple course, you need to think your way round, but wow, what a day, have played it a number of times now and it just gets better. Facilities are very basic but they start on a hols of a new clubhouse this year. Don’t miss this hidden gem.Written 19 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Andrew LBarbados818 contributionsI know it's winter so greens were slow and there was winter greens also.
So with that said I loved the course because of it's great design it's tree lined fairways and I can see why they held european tour events there, the course is a little gem, and if you are in Glasgow, I recommend you play it. Everyone at the club was very friendly and helpful from the pro to members.Written 8 March 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The food was excellent and service top notch.
The course was challenging but fair. Members on the course pleased to see us and offered friendly banter. When next in the area we will definitely visit again.Written 24 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The course was not designed by James Braid but by David Adams.
The course is in excellent condition and if you buy a green fee, you will be made most welcome by the staff at the centre and you can enjoy tea coffee meal or a beer after your round.
There is plenty public parking, but often full on Saturday mornings due to member clubs tee off times. (Deaconsbank G.C & Shaws Bar Golf Club)).
The current course professional Scot Garrett will be only too happy to get you started and give you some tips before your round and arrange for you entry to the clubhouse where there are showers and toilet facilities at your disposal.

The fairways were like a lush carpet and the greens were some of the best I've putted on. (Top marks to the greenkeepers) This course is well worth a visit. Very reasonable green fees. Ask for map of course in pro shop to help out finding next tees from greens.Written 14 August 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I was invited to join a Society Outing and found the fee for the days was remarkably inexpensive given the most enjoyable day I had.
Arrival in glorious sunshine was met with a bacon roll and coffee before attending the luxuriously fitted out locker room. A short walk to the 1st tee gave a hint of what was to come. The condition of the course given the long hot and dry couple of months was absolutely stunning and, although the greens were a touch slow, they were very true. Tees and fairways were equally impressive and finding our way around the course was straightforward.
Afterwards, there is a seated area outside the clubhouse and the furniture was very comfortable, a nice way to enjoy a refreshing drink whilst waiting for the others in the group to finish and a two course dinner could be served.
The two course meal was stunning, well presented and very tasty, and the quantity was equally impressive. The food was promptly served by cheery waiting staff.
If you are arranging a Society Outing in the Greater Glasgow area, you could do a lot worse than give WGC your custom!Written 25 August 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - John D60 contributionsI recently played this course with a group of friends. Unfortunately it had been raining for a few days and the course was waterlogged. Course is well designed and moderatly challenging. Worth playing but not when it's had a few days heavy rain.Written 6 September 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Kengolf12Kilmarnock, UK269 contributionsI played here recently in a seniors open competition and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I found the course to be in very good condition and organisers very helpful and mannerly. I was surprised there was no shop at the club but I suppose if there is no profit to be made it's a sign of the times.Written 10 September 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - AlphaDelta2912Glasgow, UK2,767 contributionsWe had managed to book a family Christmas lunch following a cancellation through a local member. Engaging staff in a pleasant bar / dining area. - Micheál O'ConnellLondon, UK6 contributionsThe following is based on a virtual visit to the club. I would like to propose that Cathkin Braes Golf Club be converted into a wind farm and that the game be modified so that the turbines - I recommend placing one at each hole - are seen not as a barrier but as an opportunity to make the game interesting. The game of 'crazy golf' is widely played after all, and these changes would be in line with sustainability and environmental objectives. What better time or place to instigate such plans given that COP26 is, at the time of writing, taking place nearby, and Scotland’s historical role in giving the world the game in its original form.Written 1 November 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
