Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a fascinating old-fashioned museum with a deep collection of art and artifacts from the former British Empire. Somewhat amusingly, in its interpretation and description of the artifacts, the museum contains apologies for various transgressions committed by the Empire including imperialism, the oppression of native peoples, slavery, and other evils. There's a curious dissonance on display as the museum's curators try to reconcile their own obvious beliefs about the evils of the British Empire with a museum that was designed in the early 20th century to show off the spoils of empire. The deep irony is that without the British Empire, the museum would have little to show and no reason to exist. The museum (possibly inadvertently, depending on the staff's level of self-awareness) demonstrates the difficulty of judging history by contemporary standards.

My interpretation about what's going on here may be incorrect but see for yourself. The museum can certainly be enjoyed for its wonderful collection. It's an excellent way to wile away several hours on a rainy afternoon.

Visited yesterday and don't know why we haven't done it before. We travelled out to Govan by underground which is just a few minutes walk over the new Govan Partick Bridge which is stunning in itself and provides brilliant views of the river, museum and Glenlee three masted ship. On a day like yesterday it certainly was a wow moment. The museum which is stunning on the outside is a brilliant space within which the displays are examples of the proud heritage of Glasgow transport, you will learn more than you might think and it is an important collection. It will appeal to all ages and as an older guy I was intreagued to see so much from my younger days all in the one space but whatever your age, you should go. Enjoyment is ensured.

Drove along to Glasgow today to see our wee boy's brick we got him for his first birthday. We parked up next to the shop and had a walk around the stadium, took some pictures with his brick and at the front of Celtic Park then walked back to the shop and spend some pennies. Was nice to bring wee boy as it had been a few years since we had made the journey.

Lots of shops and restaurants to suit all budgets and tastes. Some lovely buildings and shop fronts. I enjoyed an evening stroll when it was quieter after dinner.

Nicole is the bomb! She'll get you up to speed on the biggest brewery in Scotland. If you're not a fan of stairs, this might not be for you. You'll get your steps in. Highly recommend the flight... so much more available from Tennant's than their excellent lager.

The Cathedral and its adjoining Necropolis are a must see when in Glasgow. The cathedral is fascinating encompassing,as it does, so much of the history of the City and the story of the patron saint St Mungo.

Similarly the adjacent Necropolis is both fascinating and provides at its summit a staggering vista of the City. Should you need toilet facilities there aren’t any in the cathedral itself but can be accessed in the cathedral museum across the road.

    A must.

As a regular visitor I really enjoy the free guided tours and today's was no exception.
Our tour guide was Wilma and she was very informative and made it fun with her stories. It was entitled saints and sinners and I leaned so much.
I especially enjoyed the St Nicholas stained glass very apt so near to Christmas.
All the staff are very friendly and helpful and I'll definately be back for some more tours which bring the artifacts to life .

If you are planning a trip to Glasgow, make sure to include Pollok Country Park in your itinerary. It's a breath of fresh air and a must-see location. Most people just walk around the park, but there are some fun things you can do at Pollok Country Park.

Loved the chocolate & whisky tour! Morven was a fabulous guide - very knowledgeable and engaging and she made the experience so much fun. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the tour to anyone who enjoys whisky, chocolate, or just a beautiful view of the Clyde! Thank you!

    Lovely little museum in Glasgow.
A time capsule of the last century with lots of information both of the area at the time and also its resident who lived there for many years. Gave you the feeling that you had stepped into the ladies house and were expecting her to return any minute when in the rooms upstairs, felt we were prying into her life.
    Well worth a visit.

We drove over to the West End during our 3 day stay. It can also be reached on the tube. We found the historic little streets although there were only a couple. We then went and sat in a lovely park away from it all with view over looking the Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum and the University.
