Visited Lews Castle in Stornoway to see some of the Lewes Chessman which are on display in an excellent exhibition. There are some interesting statues in Stornoway related to their fishing history.
Also, recommend the Blackhouse Village and Butt of Lewes Lighthouse, all worth visiting.

A beautiful holiday rental cottage, well presented, clean and tidy, very comfortable, nestled alongside the road in stunning quiet, peaceful countryside.

The owners have thought of everything, well equipped for all your needs, with a modern interior. The rooms are spacious, light and airy. A large kitchen meals area, lounge and 1 bedroom, with a nice size modern bathroom.

We slept like babies in the quiet location and although on the road, there is literally no passing traffic.

I highly recommend this little gem.

If you are a family, or traveling with a larger number of people take a look at 7A Ardoil, a larger house right next door.

Great views from the top of this hill as well as seeing the amazing Broch inside. There is a small really well thought out visitor centre with toilets and a cafe/ gift shop across the road which was closed when we were there but well worth a visit anyway. We combined it with Callanish Stones and Blackhouse village as they were all in the same area.

The coastline and the Lighthouse were spectacular. The only reason for 4 rather than 5 stars is that if you have seen a lot if the coastline already with other tours, you may want to opt for a different type of sightseeing day.

Lovely old Blackhouse village to visit if you are also going to Callanish stones as the two sites are near one another. Museum and cafe close at the end of October but well worth looking round the outside anyway.

This black house was part of our schedule the cruise prep for us. It was one of the stops. Interesting place, with one way in. It tells the story about a woman who lived there until 1960s. They built her a house next to the black house, but she still preferred her old place. It takes 15min to see and read about it. There is a small shop for souvenirs and sweets, plus toilets on the back.

Cruise ship stop with local coach (double decker bus) transfer from the new deepwater dock to the village harbour area. Very pleasant and enjoyable few hours strolling around the township.
    * don't miss the Island Whisky Shop and local gallery that has a nice little cafe.

We really enjoyed our time at the museum- there were interesting exhibits about the people of the island. We especially appreciated the gentleman who was working there. He engaged with and talked to us about the history of the island. If you’re in Lewis this is a place you definitely don’t want to miss. I hear the cafe is nice, too.

    Fabulous beach, remote and beautiful.
A shame the time and tide bell didn’t work.
We waited for two high tides and nothing occurred.
Hopefully it won’t entail too much work to get this amazing artwork functioning again, as it would make visiting even better.

Great place to visit and one of very few open on a Sunday. Our 9 and 12 year olds loved seeing the animals up close and Martyn kindly let them help feed the ducks, pigs and sheep and let them hold a hen. He and his wife are clearly very passionate about the animals and have lots of funny stories about them. We had lovely homemade soup and cakes in the simple but cosy cafe when the rain started. Great little gift shop too. Highly recommend a visit.
