Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Spotted on our driving round Isle of Skye day. Tiny sign saying gallery open. There was no parking so we had to pull in a safely as we could outside the house. Beautiful photographs and art on display by the husband and wife team.
We purchased a couple of prints to frame when we get home and had a lovely chat with the lady who gave us a little booklet of Art on Skye.

    All prints were reasonably priced.

Fabulous visit to Skye topped off with a visit to this gallery and a good chat with artist Derek Robertson, who had a fantastic display of wildlife, mountain and lochs.

This was a lovely small shop with many local crafts. Good place to visit! The owner was very nice. Crafts reasonably priced.

The pots are very nice and pretty but very expensive. This is for the home made craft.
We find cheaper ones in back of Store which make very nice use for us.
Hard to find place but good for when rain is on Skype.

Beautiful pieces. Certainly quality craftsmanship. Nice variety of items. Easy parking. You pay for the quality work, so we were just window shoppers.

John Bathgate works in a variety of media but all are essentially landscapes inspired by Scotland and Skye in particular. They range from the relatively conventional to the totally abstract. As John explained it to me "I just let my imagination run wild." My wife asked him when he knew a work was finished. "That's the difference between an amateur and a professional to know when it's finished. What I'm looking for is a happy accident and knowing when one has happened." It helps to explain what John is about. I didn't buy a painting but nearly did. A mixed media picture called "Tangled" at £1200. Some paintings cost more, some less and there are prints etc. Now £1200 is a lot of money for anything but having looked at many of the other artists studios on the island and the sort of prices you might expect to pay for art both on Skye and elsewhere it seemed to be about right. John himself is very charming and given the diversity of the work on display it's worth going. Who knows you might find something that you just can't live without.

I stumbled across the shed and bought a buoy whilst on holiday. I think it’s an absolutely fantastic idea and great way to turn ocean rubbish into something decorative! There weren’t so many buoys when I visited as seen in some of the photos but I bought a black and white painted buoy which will look lovely on my decking. Very pleased!

Diana Mackie has a wonderful studio; it could be a film set. We found out about her because we were staying in nearby Hillstone Lodge, and they have some of her work, which we admired and asked about.
It was really fascinating to visit and chat to Diana, who is passionate and articulate about her work. And the work is just stunning.

Katherine’s work is fascinating; so intricate and detailed. It was a real treat to speak with the artist and to hear how she produces her work. I’d definitely recommend a visit.

We had already bought some of Cath's work from a craft shop. We bought 2 framed prints for our hallway. Her husband explained the techniques she uses which was fascinating.

The artist paints stunning watercolors that show Skye in all its glory and his daughter creates beautiful contemporary jewelry. Left with a beautiful giclee print.

After visiting a number of galleries with less than friendly owners, Sarah Wiggins was a plesant supprise. Very freindly reception. She makes her own ceramics, and also sells her friends paintings. We felt all the items were reasonbly priced, and we came home with some.

If you like colourful, soft art work this is the artist for you. Vibrant colours and composition fill the canvass and excite the eye. Well worth the money.
