What travellers are saying
- John TCoventry, UK110 contributionsA great way to spend a rainy morning. This museum tells the story of the Swindon Loco works, the GWR and the operation of the railway in a way which keeps the subject alive and interesting. Whilst the Steam locomotives themselves are always impressive, we particularly liked the way the subject was brought alive by the use of realistic wax models in real life settings and by video snippets of peoples real lives either from historic recordings of workers for example or from videos of actors playing their roles.
Really well thought out and presented.Written 18 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - tony2Cheadle, UK13 contributionsWe spent a great day out in the grounds of this hall (fortunate to be blessed with a warm sunny day). It was mid-week, out of season so very quiet and plenty of car parking spaces - very reasonable priced for a full day £4.60 parking compared to National Trust properties. We took a picnic, thinking the cafe would be the usual over-priced fare, but we’re surprised how reasonable their prices were compared to every other cafe we’ve seen in the Cotswolds this week; so in the end, we only had a couple of coffees (well made) and quality ice creams.
The grounds seem to go for miles, with fabulous views. We only left because our (ageing) dog had had enough after walking for approx 4 hours.Written 14 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Feels like there are a lot more activities as well. Still think the restaurant is a bit of a let down as it could have some better, higher quality, optionsWritten 11 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Mike J3 contributionsGreat dog walk, especially in the winter because of the well kept pathways, no mud and no need for welliesWritten 21 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- jilll692London184 contributionsOutstanding show! Giovanni and Lauren put on such a great display of dance. Moving at times, funny at times and overall thoroughly entertaining. This theatre is the best thing about Swindon. Good views from the seats (stalls). I sat in row A which is technically the third row (behind AA and BB) but lots of leg room. The bars get busy but the staff are very efficient and you get served in a timely manner. Toilets are on the mezzanine if you're in the stalls but there is a disabled toilet on the floor. Theatre is a short walk from the station.Written 3 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Terry C2 contributionsVisited South Swindon Swamp again today. Thanks to the heavy rain last night it is now even swampier. I used to think that the green grass and safe underpass were great. But now we have the Swamp instead, I realise what I've been missing. I can now wear wellies or even waders where I used to wear trainers. I am also able to play chicken with the traffic as it races to beat the lights.
Thank you Swindon Borough Council for appointing a contractor with the same level of incompetence that you enjoy.
Also , any chance of sparing a few quid from the budget to purchase a couple of Waiver Bison?Written 5 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It is a lovely amble down memory lane as well as learning the early history of computing. Lots of different consoles to actually get to play on dating back to the 1970's at least. If you're a computer gamer enthusiast with children this is an excellent place to take them and share your child hood memories.
Priced perfectly, £10 for two adults, I think a family was £13.Written 30 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. A+ for adding a splash of color to the usual otherwise mundane vertical adventures, definitely the best stair case in Swindon!Written 25 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Hermatige SLondon, UK4 contributionsOf all the ring junctions I have visited in the country, this one is the most breathtaking. I do not understand how it works but I could look at it all day. This roundabout certainly brings a tear to this old man's eye.Written 26 January 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - stephenlloydbSwindon, UK3 contributionsWe went for an afternoon at Lydiard park , and as a treat booked my grandson on the jungle park, he has ADHD and the staff were very patient with him, they explained and showed him what he had to do, went through all the safety aspects, he thoroughly enjoyed it for about 2 hours, if he got into any difficulty the staff were there straightaway, encouraging him and praised him, to cap it all he got a certificate, he was so proud of himself as were we. I would highly recommend this activity, they were absolutely brilliant and well worth the money, will definitely be booking again.Written 19 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Guido Ummarino4 contributionsGuaranteed fun for the scooters and skaters who liven up our existence. The indoor park has always received a massive thumbs-up from our children and their various partners-in-crime. The ATB staff could not be more helpful and always go the extra mile to give children the confidence that gives them lift-off. A great experience.Written 5 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
