Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Didn’t really know what to expect as there are quite a few poor reviews on here because of the refurbishment happening at the moment. Visited with three children (9, 9, 2). There was plenty to capture the older children’s interest and lots of space for the little one to run around. There were several small activities happening in each of the museum spaces which were popular.
We visited the Operation Ouch exhibition which is around £10pp. We all thought this was fun with plenty of interactive activities.

Great walk through history of the last 200 years of football, things to see with a few interactive things for kids to do as well. A decent few photo opportunities

Manchester Museum is a treasure trove of history and science. Fascinating exhibits, though some areas felt crowded. A delightful visit that's almost perfect.

A brilliant museum full of people's stories. Interactive and visual. Brilliant couple of hours spent here. Having read about caricature history, it was fascinating to see the varied examples here. How have we never been here before?!

First show we've been to at the Lowry, but have visited in the past.

WOW such lovely staff, couldn't help us enough. My wife has to use a wheelchair, super accessible, we were looked after so well.

This won't be the last time we visit...super place to go x

The museum was free to enter, and there was a good collection of paintings to view. There seemed to be a focus on historic art, which I prefer, so I was happy. There was also a lot of work by Mancunian artists showcased. I’d definitely visit again.

We spent several hours here, broken up by two visits to the cafe - there was so much to see. It's also a very thought-provoking and sobering experience. It's really well set out, lots of items are exhibited and there is lots of information, accessible to all age groups. I love the enormous poppy installation which goes up the tower!

Loved this museum! Really interesting and great as a lot if it is local history. I wasn't aware of its existence up until a few years ago. Hands down, I would rate this above Manchester’s two main museums (MOSI and Manchester Museum). It may not be as big, but had a lot more to offer. The staff are really welcoming and full of knowledge. Will go back again, so I have longer to browse, as it closes at 3:30pm and not 4pm as Google says. If you're visiting Manchester as a tourist, I'd make this a must see as it may be easy to miss. It's also only open on a Tuesday and an be busy during school holidays.

We went for the guided tour of the Concorde which exceeded our expectations and the allotted one hour time. Tour guides extremely knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. Great value for money.

What wasn't great was the rest of Runway Viewing Park. Car park a bit on the small side, three planes all closed up and barriers round, gift shop was ok but the cafe had very limited choice and was expensive and slow - took over 30 mins for two hot dogs with fries to arrive.

Decent view of runway and taxi way but not much else to see.

Interesting visit. Would be better if some of the newer vehicles could be entered. Daughter enjoyed also. Good wee shop and cheap entry.

Absolutely fantastic visit with my Grandchildren today. I was amazed at how big it is - we spent nearly 2 hours there. Very informative. Will definitely be back!

I had never heard of Clayton Hall, until it was mentioned by our tour guide at Cheetham's Library as the house Humphrey Cheetham lived at. So once I realised it was right by the tram stop, I headed over on the next open day. And what a lovely little gem of a place. The rooms are really nicely propped and set up to take you back in time and the guides / volunteers are ready to share info / answer questions and tell you snippets of facts about each room.

We arrived in time for a talk about the building and its owners, which was really fascinating and gives you lots of insights into the place and its history.
We had sandwiches / cakes (homemade and delicious) and cups of tea in the cafe with really friendly, chatty staff.

We didn't go with children, but there were lots of families there with little ones - it's brilliant as they can touch, pick up, play, dress up, sit, and interact with the furniture and items so keeps them entertained!

Absolutely brilliant work being done by the volunteers. Highly recommend a visit on the next open day!

Healey Dell kindly opened up for a group of 12 work ladies on one of there closed days so we could enjoy an afternoon tea get-together. The food was amazing and the staff were really accommodating and friendly. We will be back, thank you so much.

    Pros:
Upon entering I was entranced and intrigued by both the architecture and the artwork. Great find! Excellent facilities, very clean. Couldn’t recommend enough 😁.
    Cons:
No ash trays in the garden.
