I recently attended the St Vincent gig - not without some trepidation after reading so many comments about overcrowding, overheating and aggressive security staff.
Fortunately I experienced none of these issues. The show was a sell out and very busy, but at no time did I feel unsafe or overcrowded. I managed to get a seat on the upstairs balcony which afforded a great view, but the downside of this is the long walk to the bar and the never ending flights of stairs to get down to the toilets in the basement.
I also think that the general admission policy to both the standing area and balcony needs looking at. There were a lot of people making their way up to the balcony, wandering around trying to find a seat, and then having to go back down as It was already full. It would make sense if tickets were sold as being either standing or sitting, which would enable the crowd to be managed better. Having said that, the security staff dealt with this issue well, particularly the gentleman with the blue shirt and bodycam who was very polite and professional.
