Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Given a sudden unexpected cancellation of all rail services the staff were really helpful in keeping us updated. We were redirected to the Metrolink where we were able to use our rail ticket to get to our destination. Easy to navigate around and plenty of help available for questions.

    Liverpool to Glasgow,booked first class
I was under the impression that this was a more comfortable and quieter experience than standard
    I was wrong!

When you pay a pretty expensive fare I don’t expect to have to sit next to train staff discussing their day and rota loudly while sitting around in the 1st class carriage!
This was the same on the return journey
Quite a strange first class service when you share the carriage with the staff talking about work
    A pretty grim service!

Arriving at the airport, in Manchester, I was aware that there was a train station. The staff were very helpful and I soon had a ticket and I was making my way to this station. It is three stops from the airport, I left at 1345 and arrived here at 1404.

Silly me, didn’t realise there was a lift and carted my luggage up the stairs. At the other side, I was making my way down when a train driver assisted me. Initially I didn’t realise that he was a train driver until a couple of his co-workers arrived. I was very appreciative of his assistance.

The station is an old one, and it’s curiously quirky. It’s tucked away in a small area off a main street. The staff at the gates went out of their way to give me directions to where I was staying. Mind you… The best part of his role might be telling people where to go .😉

He showed me to a map on the wall, I listened to his directions, and still took a photo of the map. I have no idea what happened next, as he did tell me to turn left, and I turned right. This might of been contributed to a bit of jetlag… I should have listened to more closely to this very helpful staff member.

I really love the quirkiness of the station.

Beautiful railway station maintaining original features. There are lots of steps to the other platforms - so would benefit from escalators especially if you don’t like lifts and avoid them

Hmm, just a basic train station to be honest - it has no airs or graces and is a little bit like a maze if you don't know where you're going due to the corridors that shoot off in different directions with no external view.
We asked a staff member which was the best exit to use to get us to the Opera House for a show (back in late January) and he had no idea and said "Erm, maybe that way? I dunno. Just go down that one and see where it takes you" - luckily it was the right one.
Tiled floors very slippy and there was still a sad looking Christmas tree up even though it was the last week of January. However, the entire station was very clean.

The entire place feels a tad unwelcoming though - it feels very closed off, even when you're up on the platform and hasn't changed since it appeared on Coronation Street in the early 90s and probably looked the same before that.
It's not a station where you would want to spend any time, unlike Piccadilly and even Oxford Road has more facilities, feels friendlier and feels safer.
