Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- freelife3Nottingham, UK131 contributionsGreat visit of a Manchester architectural gem. The main gallery beautifully lit by Arts and Crafts original cast lamps was so atmospheric. Thanks to a very knowledgeable attendant we learnt a lot more. Highly recommendefWritten 13 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Chefborn2eatManchester, UK989 contributionsA must visit place if you are visiting Manchester or live in Manchester. It's situated right next to St.Peter's Square tram station. There are 4 floors and each floor has something to offer. The lower ground floor is dedicated more towards children and toilets, the ground floor has many reading alleys with a cafe, the 1st floor has the dome where the music library is (and what a masterpiece it is), the 2nd floor has some meeting rooms and computers, so does the third, 4th floor has more books and the entire lobby has shelves with books and articles.Written 25 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sunshine576554York, UK555 contributionsWhat a great tour. Wonderful building and very informative guide. The library itself is magnificent. Amazing to see Johnson’s dictionary and all the other wonderful books in such an atmospheric setting and to see where the communist manifesto was discussed by Marx and Engels!Written 14 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - AlbywonSydney, Australia13,654 contributionsLocated on the top floor of a converted bank this small library has been here for 200+ years. Limited access for non members but still worth a fleeting visit along with a photo or two.Written 15 April 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
