Despite the increase in size over the past few years, they still do not have sufficient desks and our airline - Virgin - was literally moving desks whilst trying to check people in. My husband left me checking in at one desk and when he returned I was half way down the hall.
Security staff have a difficult job to do and don't need to be a friend but it wouldn't hurt if they were polite and professional - we found them difficult and rude and there was no need for it.
As for the airside part of Terminal 2, it is fine if you want to shop, shop, shop but the constant barrage of assistants trying to sell to us was wearing and unwelcome. The breakfast was excellent and cooked to order.
When my flight was called to gate I then taken through security and chaufferd across the airfield to the terminal by the excellent staff.
