Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- arpitamGurugram (Gurgaon), India962 contributionsThey are renovating. I was lucky to get a chance that they are allowing visitors. Currently the entry is through the side gate. The transition from the modern to ancient part is drastic. The architecture is neo-gothic style and steeped with history. This library was a private endeavour however it is now part of The University of Manchester. The alleys, corridors, alcoves, staircase, etc. showcase magnificent architectural styles.
For the potter fans, this place relates to the vibes of Hogwarts, especially the great reading room and the room of Albus Dumbledore.

The place captures the history behind major scientific innovations. Manchester being one of the first cities with major changes post the industrial revolution it has pioneered significantly in the manufacturing sector.
Special mention is to be made for Stephen Hawking gallery.Written 4 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - BlažMaribor, Slovenia6 contributionsVisited the National Football Museum and loved every minute! The exhibits are a fantastic mix of history, memorabilia, and interactive fun. Seeing iconic items like the 1966 World Cup ball was a real treat. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, making the experience even better. Perfect for fans of all ages—definitely worth a visit if you’re in Manchester!Written 23 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - SarahJayneUnited Kingdom1,153 contributionsThe museum is amazing for all age groups, a must have to visit! You can spend hours in there. It’s free to enter, and so much to see. It has lots of levels, a cafe which is very reasonable, toilets are great (with period poverty products provided) which was fabulous to see!
There is a fabulous car park where you can park - it’s the next turn on the left after the science and industry museum, ( liverpool road), (it’s apparently cheaper on the app we were told by the man on the car park taking the money ) but only £8 anyway, or £6 on the app if i remember correctly, and can park there all day. We parked there and went around all the museums, but to be honest i wish we had gone to this one first as this was the best, we ended up going to this one last and missing it all as ran out of time to see it all. You can easily spend 3-4 hrs in here with the kids, there’s so much to see. I never got chance to see the live animals in the vivariums on the top floor or dinosaurs in the basement, so gutted Everywhere was very clean and well presented.Written 25 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It does not match and too cut off from the background.Written 5 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - David nManchester, UK4,769 contributionsHaving visited many UK museum outside of London, I had low expectations but was really surprised about the quality and range of exhibits here. They even have a room dedicated to Dutch old "masters". I spent 1.5 hours here and still did not finish looking at all the galleries.
It was my fault that I have not been here for so many years and that will now change.Written 30 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It's always so peaceful inside, a lovely place for some quiet reflection. The modern theatre is built inside the old Royal Exchange and doesn't sit well in its surroundings. The steel framing is a huge contrast to the graceful old columns and even the status board high on one wallWritten 2 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Chefborn2eatManchester, UK989 contributionsA must visit place if you are visiting Manchester or live in Manchester. It's situated right next to St.Peter's Square tram station. There are 4 floors and each floor has something to offer. The lower ground floor is dedicated more towards children and toilets, the ground floor has many reading alleys with a cafe, the 1st floor has the dome where the music library is (and what a masterpiece it is), the 2nd floor has some meeting rooms and computers, so does the third, 4th floor has more books and the entire lobby has shelves with books and articles.Written 25 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Cindy DWarrington, UK1,290 contributionsVisiting the area so thought we would pop to the Arndale Shopping Centre.
Lots of different stores, none of the screens telling you what was where, were working so that was annoying. Lots of public toilets all clean, couple security guards we talked to were very helpful, areas all clean.. we are not really big shoppers to be honest so we are glad we went but we won’t be back.
We had a quick bite at Subway.Written 22 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
