Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

If you haven’t seen Notre Dame, well—you’ve missed something. Go early, get a reservation, purchase an audio tour and expect crowds. Reservations are best obtained around midnight and can only be gotten two days before you go.

Very beautiful wasn’t expecting that much detail. Would recommend climbing the stairs all the way to the top; it’s a great result.
There is a lot of history and stuff to learn about inside the building.
When we visited there was a ceremony going on for the tomb of the unknown soldier.
Would recommend if you’re in Paris!

You’ve seen pictures of Ste. Chappelle, which appear often in travel literature and books about Paris, but no photo can do it justice.

Ste. Chappelle is maybe 200 yards west of Notre Dame. It is a compact space in very high demand, so you will want to book a timed ticket well ahead of your visit. Due to heightened security, even with a timed ticket you may have to wait (ours was about 45 minutes past the set time). Unfortunately, the complaints on this site about the poor line management are true - make sure you have a timed ticket, but anticipate a wait.

They take the excellent Paris Museum Pass.

It’s worth the wait. The core of Ste Chappelle is a large chapel with stained windows from the 1500s. The detailed windows have countless Biblical scenes from the Old and New Testaments. They have guides to help you find them and it is fun looking for things like the ark, Adam & Eve, David & Goliath, etc.

Look closely at the large rosette window at the back, which has scenes from the Book of Revelation, including multi-headed beasts and dragons.

A few notes: The chapel is on the second level of the building, and access may be difficult for those with mobility limitations. Some of the windows are also undergoing renovation, so portions are covered by scaffolding.

This is one of the most beautiful sites in Paris. It’s more than worth a visit even if the wait is longer than it should be.

We had waited to do this tour for many years as previous visits to Paris we were unable to get in due to very large queues.
This time we booked a tour and paid in advance, 62 euros for 2 people.
We were given an audio device to use during our visit so we could listen to the facts and information.
The first thing to note is there are a lot of stairs to get down to the catacombs level so beware if there are any medical issues.
There is quite a long walk through the tunnels to the main area.
Listening to the audio about the history of the old city and how all the bones came to be there was very interesting.
At the end there are a number of stairs to to the exit.
I did enjoy the visit but we did think the price paid was very steep for what you actually got.
Still its worth doing and Paris generally is quite expensive.

Wonderful reconstruction of the cathedral. Busy as you’d expect but we went early (9.15ish) on a Monday and didn’t have to queue. Worth the wait.

The Conciergerie is most famous as the prison where Marie Antoinette awaited execution in 1793. She wasn’t alone. During the French Revolution more than 2,500 prisoners were imprisoned, tried and sentenced here. However the executions (and the sentence was mostly execution) were not held here.
Prisoners were sent on, usually to the Place de la Concorde, where the guillotine drew a large crowd and fell with alarming regularity. It’s thought that up to 40,000 people died during this period at the end of the guillotine blade. The best thing that can be said about it was that it was fast.
However I was surprised to learn that the Conciergerie was originally a royal palace. Perhaps I shouldn’t have been - it looks like one with its rounded towers and turrets.
Along with the Palais de Justice and Sainte Chapelle, the Conciergerie formed the ancient Palais de la Cité, the residence of French kings from the 10th-14th centuries.
It is located on the western end of the small, boat-shaped island, Île De La Cité.
It can be visited on its own or with a combo Sainte Chapelle ticket.

A desire to attend the French Open is one that many share, but acquiring tickets can be a challenge. Fortunately, reasonably priced tours of Roland-Garros are readily available throughout the year. While you will sacrifice watching the best tennis players in the world compete, you will gain access to portions of the grounds that are usually strictly off-limits to fans.

The broadcast networks tend to focus on just a few show courts during the tournament, so the ability to roam more broadly provides a tremendous opportunity. While the tour is guided and you are not permitted to explore without boundaries, this is a truly unique experience.

It includes a visit to the Men’s Locker Room, and while not diminutive, it serves as a way station for numerous sizable egos and there must be times when cramming them all into this space is a challenge. If you “don’t prefer” the company of one or more players there is absolutely no way that you’ll be able to completely avoid them while utilizing the many features that are available (including a napping room with 3 beds). 😴

Tracing the players’ steps leading from there to Court Philippe-Chatrier is also an interesting experience. Although you travel a surprisingly small number of steps, I’ll bet they seem innumerable for the player who has recently been vanquished.

Once we made our way to this site’s ultimate stage, I was struck by just how cavernous it is. The seats rise from court level at such a steep angle that it has the feel of a coliseum and I can only imagine how exposed a player can feel in front of a full house. If it doesn’t happen to be your day, your flaws are on full display for all to see.

I suppose the ultimate outcome for a tour such as this one is to create an appetite for a visit during tournament play. If so, then I’m “hangry” for a big serving of the French Open in 2025!

    And that’s…Henry’s Take.

    Magnificent site.
I lived in Paris for decades and I did not know this place.
It was only when I returned to Paris this fall that I had time to stroll around and discover this place.
    Magnificent and impressive.
    Try not to miss it.

Took a day trip from Brussels to Paris on Eurostar. Then a couple of stops on the Metro to get to Sacre Coeur. Great place to start your Paris experience as, from the hill on which the Cacre Coeur is located you get a great view of the city including the Eiffel Tower. Helps put it all in perspective. Next it was a Metro ride to get to the tower and walk up to the second floor - 674 steps! Bought tickets for this online. The queue for tickets on the day had a two hour wait, and this was in late October - so always buy ahead! You don't want to waste your time in this great city stuck in a line for hours! Finally, everywhere you will find great restaurants, not cheap...tourist prices unfortunately, but you have to try the local onion soup and, if you want an authentic local alcoholic drink ask for Ricard - an aniseed flavoured aperitif.

A neighbourhood shopping precinct where we had wonderful meals, the best bread ever and fromage to die for. It's the real deal and we got our baguettes early for breakfast and ate a wonderful family meal there on our last night.

    PROS
    * The best location at the Trocadero Plaza opposite the best view of the Eiffel Tower
    * Impressive curved symmetric buildings
    * Housing, some of the less famous and less popular museums in Paris, such as the marine and the ethnology

    CONS
    * it is located at frantic and frenetic Trocadero Plaza, where there are tourists all day and all night, as well as hawkers and stalkers

    “ I VISITED THIS PLACE”…
… from the outside when I was at Trocadero several times

    WAS IT WORTH THE COST?
    It was free

WOULD “I VISIT THIS PLACE” AGAIN?
Sure – when I visit Trocadero again, and maybe I would go inside

    ADVICE
At least look at and notice these buildings when you are there at Trocadero to admire the Eiffel Tower

Have been to Paris many times and always try to visit different attractions. Really enjoyed learning more about Victor Hugo and his amazing canon of work and its wider impact. It's a very moving and quite personal museum and even if you don't know his work it is engaging. Lovely and stylish cafe too.
