Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We spent a good 3 - 4 hours in this museum today & loved it.

There is a wonderful array of exhibits which covered the history of all sorts of inventions & industrial devices- coming from the 15th century to today.

The highlights for us were the 2nd floor with the Scientific Instruments & Materials galleries - and the ground floor / church which housed transport exhibits all the way from a Model T to a F1 race car.

The museum is in a lovely old building & the church has spectacular stained glass windows.

It is a quiet museum- we went on a Wednesday morning & there wouldn’t have been more than 10 - 15 visitors, and we seemed to be the only foreign visitors.

I highly recommend this museum & thoroughly enjoyed our visit

It is a good place to visit, to picnic and see youngsters practicing their dancing. During the summer, you have open-air cinema (for free), and you also have the cité the science that you can visit, and a playing ground for children.

This museum is the largest in Europe. It really works best if you have children.
I was a little disappointed as I thought this place would gear more to adults but it is really much more suited to young people as there are a lot of items to touch. Do check out the metal sphere out back though really cool.

We were intending to visit the Grand Palais but it was closed and discovered the Palais de la Decouverte nearby while wandering around the area. As concessionaries, the entrance fee was 7€ each and we were given a map in English showing the various display areas and themes covered therein. Sadly, there was very little else in English so our understanding of many of the exhibits was limited. Nevertheless, we spent 2-3 hours wandering around looking at the many displays and enjoying “playing” with the interactive exhibits while also testing our basic, school French.

The themes covered within the museum included aspects of physics such as magnetism, light and sound; chemistry; anatomy (including a section titled “L’Ecole des rats”!); astronomy and mathematics.

Despite the lack of English notes, we enjoyed the visit but people with no knowledge of French should probably consider avoiding the museum.

This is one of the recommended places in Paris to bring children and while there are many interesting things and exhibits to see, the over all handling of guests can be much improved.
Perhaps because we visited during peak season for school children, the museum was full of kids on field trips -- and it was noisy and not well managed, by both museum staff and chaperones of the school kids.
Some of the exhibits were not working and there was no one to manage the lines of kids at the more popular displays.
The science museum for adults is more geared to teen agers and high school students.

We were somewhat disappointed by the Musee de l'Homme. The organisation was confusing. While some of the exhibits were interesting in themselves the narrative was not clear. With a few exceptionas all explanations were in French (I suppose we could have have bought an audio guide). As the scope of the collection is mankind as a whole it would be logical to have signage in more than one language. Stunning views of the Eiffel Tower, though. The cafe could easily have been much better.

Beautiful building and interesting museum even though we're not medical professionals or military veterans. The entire Val du Grace area is fenced in. To visit the museum, you must ring the bell, located on the gate, and ask to be admitted to the museum. At the "guard house", you exchange a photo id for a visitor's lanyard. Upon entering the museum itself, there is a 5 euro charge and a coat check. We spent a little more than an hour in this interesting building. The architecture, chapel, and exhibits were very interesting, and sometimes a little grizzly due to their nature. We were very pleased that we visited. The chapel was constructed in the 16th century and the flooring, staircase, etc were a sight to see.

I enjoyed the individual mineral displays. Many of which are very large. That said, it is not a very large galleria. It is actually a short visit. Expensive for that.

The publicité they have made for this museum made me want to visit and that is why I booked. A very disappointing reality. It is a tour and there isn’t anything for younger children. No locker room to leave jackets and in December coats are heavy to carry for an hour. The reception staff were extremely rude and unfriendly. Don’t bother with the VR there is a small
Section at the end. There are other experiences in Paris which ar le more kid friendly

This collection is truly superb - the 1 500 specimens on display were selected because of their rarity, quality and importance in earth sciences and industrial/artistic applications.

The minerals are beautifully displayed in large glass cabinets and are organised by chemical composition and structure. We still get amazed seeing the incredible variety of crystal structures for minerals which have the same chemical composition.

Whilst you are not allowed to take photos, a portion (about 450 specimens) of the collection is available on CD-Rom (for Euros 10 from memory). There are also a few books for sale including the excellent 'Minéraux remarquables' by the Director of the collection, Jean-Claude Boulliard, which has superb photos. It is in French of course!

At Euros 6, the visit was incredible value. We will certainly go again.

We did have fun and laughed and so did the two 9 year olds with us. However there were too many people at each session (up to 70) and many children were not wearing masks. I saw one child sneeze all over the puzzles.
It is also much much too expensive. The visit took 45 minutes and it is €18 for an adult and €12 for a child. We had a family ticket for €45 for 2 adults and 2 children and even that is too expensive.

I've had a really nice experience, the exhibitions are all very comprehensible, even though you can find there very famous mathematical and other problems. Highly recommended!
