Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We were disappointed in the gardens as half of them were dug up and being prepared for the Olympics. Inside the palace was very beautiful and very crowded. Even though we had timed tickets we had to wait in the sun for 30minutes past our scheduled time.

Beautiful so worth it . Catch the hop on hop off train . Buy the train tickets in the garden grounds green shed yellow sign . Can easily spend the day here. We bought passport tickets so all included bar the train . We also had a guided tour through the palace which was ok through the HeadOut app .

Not all of the Palace of Versailles is spectacular, but this iconic room is a wonder to behold. It is not to be missed and must be experienced to be understood.

A beautiful place, spread over acres of well maintained gardens, amazing fountains, very accessible and the palace itself is stunning a real sight to behold. One piece of advice I would give is buy your tickets for the palace entry plenty of time in advance as they sell out quickly and some members of our coach party were very disappointed they were unable to go in the palace itself. That said the gardens are so beautiful and I wasn't disappointed that I couldn't go in the palace. There are a couple of trains which offer trips around the park for €5, there are plenty of seats and we'll worth taking a ride on. Please note it can be quite bumpy in places but is a great way to see the other buildings and different garden areas. There are a couple of cafes/snack bars which offer a variety of hot and cold drinks and snacks. There is a coach house located directly opposite the palace which I would definitely recommend a visit to. The entry was free and it was great to see the details on the coaches which are really quite beautiful. The gardens were free to enter at the time of our visit as they didn't start to charge until April. The village of Versailles itself is beautiful, there are lots of shops and on a Sunday a fruit and vegetable market which had the most amazing fresh vegetables, cheeses, meats and flowers. There are lots of Restaurants and Cafes but be aware it can be very hard to find a table and we were turned away from several as they were full. This is to be expected on a busy Sunday in March.I would advise either buying a snack in the gardens or taking a pack up with you.

As part of the Versailles's landscaping and gardens, there is an enormous man-made lake. Water features are always an important part of garden landscapes.

Fantastic not really the word for this - built to the glory of god or was it Louis 14th. Either way it is magnificent

This is a cool little structure found near Marie Antoinette’s hamlet. It is an interesting classical-style building that catches the eye and merits a quick stop.

This was an expected delight. Marie Antoinette’s fake Norman Village is fascinating. It is so over-the-top quaint because it is fake. It is like a Disneyland Norman village and that’s what makes it so strangely compelling.

Min building first floor - not to be missed - make sure you have an audio guide. Beautiful paintings and a great history of French militarism - or at least the battles that they won
