Did not expect Vieux-Lille to be quite as nice as it is. Lovely to walk around so many independent and quirky shops and stop off for a few drinks.

Nice surprise. I had no specific expectations but I was surprised in a positive manner. Nice old colourful buildings around the square.

A very pleasant surprise. By mete coincedence we ended up in Lille and decided to visit this museum. Quite a collection of paintings with Monet, Seurat, Sisley, Manet, Rubens, many Dutch such as Frans Hals and Jan Steen, also Goya and Velasquez, and many other luke a Picasso and Brueghel. Quite some beautiful sculptures a.o. Rodon and Zadkime. Reliefs in the basement from appro 15 cities. Never seen before..And paintings and other relics from the middle ages. Very much worth a visit.

A lovely spot in the park to have a break for an hour or so. Very reasonably priced at 6 euros and they’ve got a nice array of animals including rhinos, monkeys, red panda, maned wolf and lots of smaller animals, amphibians and birds.

There a small gift shop and takeaway drinks cabin too.

About a 20 minute walk from the centre of old hills (sadly no metro stops nearby).

There’s also a well maintained children’s fun far next to the zoo with lots of different rides fir small children. Plus there’s a cafe with plenty of outdoor seating in the party near the entrance too.

Nice to see lots of local families out enjoying the sunshine!

A very distinctive building. Certainly worth stopping by whilst you are in the Grand Place area. Stalls in the interior selling old books, posters, maps and the like!

Not a fan of going round city centre art galleries I found this modern art museum really interesting being on a small scale and situated in a park

You will find Librairie Furet du Nord or the Ferrets of the North Bookstore on the Grand Place.
I love a book store and this shop has been operating since 1960! It claims to be the largest book shop in Europe but I'm not sure having visited Blackwells in Oxford?
Obviously most of the books are not written in English but there are sections, here and there, where a display of English books on a particular genre are available for sale. The only catch is the price. I spotted, for example, a copy of a recently released paperback by one of my favourite writers but it was nearly three times the price I would pay back home. I'm not sure why?

Outside of the books on sale there are some wonderful stationery items and I picked up some unique individual postcard/ notelets which I will use for Thank you messages etc in the future.

First visit to the stadium and it was for the Rugby World Cup ’23 game France vs Uruguay. Very impressed with the layout, staff and atmosphere of the place. Would happily come back.

The staff here were very helpful and there was some good information, particularly maps. There was an information leaflet aimed at younger tourists....early 20s or so it seemed...but take it and read it as its full of useful information about lots of places suitable for all.

Visiting this house is a pleasant way to spend an hour or 2 in Lille. The staff are friendly & helpful.
The audio guide in English (included in the 6€ entry fee) is informative & gives an insight into the life and times of a Lille family around 1900. There is some information about the young CdG, as expected.
This is also one of the few museums etc that is open on a Monday ✔️.

Interesting experience - to go there for shopping and get fresh local food or flowers (textil and similarities too, but not local in this case :D). Lively marketing, people everywhere, you can buy warm meal - around the square are restaurants. The atmosphere was great. I would recomend this activity every visitors :)!
