Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- David NHawthorne, CA5,883 contributionsThe Saarbrücken old town (Altstadt) has a typical German combination of shops and marketplaces, restaurants and outdoor cafes, and historical buildings and fountains. Although it is not as impressive as the Heidelberg Altstadt, for example, it is definitely worth a visit if you are on your way somewhere in Saarbrücken on foot. I chose to have lunch here while walking to the Historical Museum from the train station. Make sure to see the St. Johanner Markt!Written 11 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Maria STrondheim, Norway12 contributionsBig areas with green grass, small rivers to dip your toes in if it gets really warm, saw some ducks. Small fountains were also nice.Written 18 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- LizaGroenewaldOrkney, South Africa168 contributionsThis is a very beautiful church, especially at night. I could just stare at it! And the bells played a Christmas chime.Written 1 December 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- nazyc4San Jose, CA288 contributionsIt is a nice mall with a many good options for shopping and a good food court. It is a historical building that added a modern architecture to it.Written 21 July 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ispeakinsongsCirencester, UK638 contributionsIt’s not cheap, but when you come during the week and outside school holidays it’s worth it. Had a lovely morning with my two children. Lots to do for children of all ages. Would come back but only off season during quiet weeks.Written 15 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Travelling EuropeAlken, Germany694 contributionsThe specificity of this museum is that it's based on the ruins of an old castle. The visit of the ruins in the basement was already super interesting. But then we entered the main collection of the museum and we were not expecting so much to see! - GoldyarmaniKonstanz, Germany66 contributionsIt’s a nice zoo for small children with a lot of different animals: Pinguin, Kangaroo, Gorilla, Giraffe….
But it is still a zoo with small space for the animals.
There is a nice playground also and it is possible to eatWritten 23 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It has a tarnished origin, as the main venue was commissioned and constructed in 1938 during the Nazi era, but the building was cleansed of all Nazi markings after the war. It is now owned and maintained by the federal state of Saarland.Written 11 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Les PGermany16 contributionsBeautiful building but the hall was closed. The architecture is stunning for its period ( Late 1800's neo). - jueprivatSaarbrücken, Germany38 contributionsI like that church and the history of this region. There you find tombs of the old counts of Saarbrücken which were relatives of the actual King Family of the Netherlands. Very interesting.Written 21 February 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- HordernWoking, UK74 contributionsA large and varied collection including works by a lot of well-known (and lesser-known) artists. I'm not sure that the contributions by the more famous artists are among their best, but it was certainly interesting to see such a wide range. Our visit coincided with an exhibition of the works of Giuseppe Penone which were certainly worth viewing.
It's a large spacious building, with more staff than visitors when we visited. We made a special visit to Saarbrucken to see the Moderne Galerie and we didn't regret it.Written 2 June 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
