Caught the ferry from La Spezia to spend the day here. Some spectacular views from different parts of the castle. Worth going o the very top although 5 euro entry is a bit much. Nice and peaceful with spectacular views over the gulf. Some nice bars and restaurants to while away sometime and do a little people watching

The museum is a quiet get away on the waterfront of La Spezia. Everyone needs to show proof of vaccination. There is a wonderful display of ship figureheads and low speed human driven torpedos.

Do you remeber the wolf in the Disney's movie "The sword in the stone?"
Well, that's was me on my way back to the car. But Monesteroli is really worth it.
The view is stunning and once you reach the end of the stair you can swim in the sea and chill.
I recommend trekking in warm but not hot months; so May,early June, September & October (according to the weather) are perfect.

The castle is rather small and the artifact display just average.

However, the view from the top is FANTASTIC! If you want some great photos from La Spezia, this is a must go.

After you pass the whole La Spezia port, get some drink in the bar you have to visit the bridge which will offer you interesting views and opportunity for the photos.

Visit the museo di sigillo upstairs - every signature ring and seal found in Liguria and beyond ( one set came from Jersey). Then marvel at the exquisite illuminated manuscripts and paintings downstairs. Buy the 7 museums ticket - 7 museums ( well, at least 2 are on the Museo Civico Amedeo Lia site, although it felt as if there were 3 museums worth of interesting things to look at ) for €10. It’s good for 3 days.

On Via del Prione you find a nice offer from various stores. Also for food there are different opportunities for shopping.

We took a walk around this area and it was quite enjoyable. There is the water to see, the boats, and some cafes. The park is just up the road, so it would suit a family with kids. It is not a must-go place, but if you are in the area it might be worth a visit.

The historic center of La Spezia is very nice to walk though. There are numerous shops, bars, and restaurants in the area, if you are headed to the port from the train station walking through the center is about a 25 minute walk.

Mostly precinct area and with an open air but covered market selling fresh produce. Plenty of cafes and restuarants for refreshment on the way.

Arrived here, and was surprised at how small this station was. I had no problem navigating to find our trains. The signs and time boards were easy to find & read. There was a little shop inside to buy snacks. Our hotel was literally, out the door to this train station. The scenery in the front of the train station, was nice for a picture of town. There were plenty of restaurants, shopping, and hotels with a few minutes walking. We used this station to be closer to visiting Cinque Terre. Got to Riomaggiore in less than 10 minutes, from this station. All in all, it's a nice little station. Coming from bigger stations, like Roma Termini & Napoli Centrale, I felt less anxious, because there wasn't the feel of being pickpocketed every second, and there were no homeless people, and beggars, standing around or outside the station. At least not the 2 days I stayed. With all that said...still never let your guard down.

Situated in a main street, complete with market when we visited, The church is interesting both inside and outside with it's distinctive horizontal lines.

The person riding that horse statue is Mr. Giuseppe.....who is a very prominent figure in Italian history. It is a fitting statue for a man who has fought so hard for his country. It is definitely the main statue in the town of La Spezia, occupying the main public park. It is definitely a beautiful sight to behold.

We came to La Spezia during our cruising trip and visited this place including the lovely promenade by the seaside. The palm trees gave us shade while the wind blow from the sea enable us to enjoy the stroll there underneath the overhead sun. There were many yachts and statues alongside the marina port. Recommended.
