Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- ScottingtonEngland, UK422 contributionsOn our last day in Sicily we stopped at this attraction to have a look round. It's a little castle with lots of character and some fab views of the coastline in each direction. It gave a nice end to our holiday.Written 24 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- jimmibeanRiga, Latvia118 contributionsEasy to reach by train from Ragusa - a nice day trip and only €2.20 each way for a 20 minute ride and a discount off entry. It’s a short walk from the station and there’s a very reasonable restaurant next door to serve the coach parties. The Castle, like many public buildings in Sicily, is in need of some conservation and this is an on-going project both in the castle and the gardens. My main reason for the journey was to view the costume collection and in this l was not disappointed, with examples dating from the mid 18th c. to the 1920s.
The grounds are extensive and the maze is fun, so allow a good 3 hours for your visit.Written 7 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. While it's not one of the super-famous castles of Europe like Carcasonne or Windsor, it stands toe-to-toe with them for sheer impressiveness in my opinion. And the view of the rustic town of Caccamo would make anyone happy.Written 24 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Deborah BMarietta, GA256 contributionsReally cool castle and exhibits and grounds to explore. So glad we did this on our first afternoon in Milazzo - it’s a bit of a hike uphill from the ferry area of town, but we’ll worth the walk. Extensive grounds and properties, and it was actually free to get in the day we went. The exhibits are all really well done, with tons of information and things to learn. Set aside a couple hours at least - we thoroughly enjoyed this, even without a guide.Written 11 June 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Alessandro FerrazzaGravesend, UK99 contributionsThe Castle is well worth a visit, lacking sone of the characteristics of a typical castle as it has no furnishings. Sone of the expositions are interesting especially the ones with local artists, Sited at the very tip of Aretusa Island is the site where Archimede fought the Roman army using the mirrors, perhaps exploiting this central historical element may support a greater depth of interest for the location.Written 31 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - LeahthetouristLondon, UK112 contributionsStunning views. This is a little castle ruin (medieval) on top of a mountain. It’s free to visit and was so peaceful. If you’re doing a bus tour then do stop here and spend an hour. ZWritten 23 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - JamieJWQuakertown, PA2,169 contributionsWandering through Enna and saw this magnificent structure sitting on top of a mountain.
The castle is closed to the public, or at least was when we visited in August of 2022, but you can walk around the area and see the views of the area and valley from the rocks.
Impressive massive structure.
Worth a visit if in the city of Enna.Written 26 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The interior features frescoed ceilings. It belonged to the Nicolachi family who acquired their fortune from the tuna industry. It's been renovated since having been taken over by Noto. It's an interesting look inside the life of a wealthy Sicilian family.Written 7 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - JeremyLondon, UK10 contributionsInteresting place to visit but disappointed all the information was only I Italian. Could only gather what the rooms were about by photographing the Italian text and using google translate which used up all my battery.Written 31 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - PruguyBensalem, PA744 contributionsWe enjoyed several hours walking around this beautiful mountainside village. The castle has a amazing little chapel and an interesting small museum, and the views are nice. You have to try the Le Manna - which is absolutely delicious.Written 27 December 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Trama69Province of Udine, Italy3 contributionsWonderful views from the castle which has undergone recent, sensitive restoration. Well worth the walk up. The guide Giovanni is available for a guided tour and is extremely knowledgeable. - Michele_E_11_11San Clemente, California, United States121 contributionsThe castello is at the top of a small mountain, approximately 300 meters from sea level. It offwers a splendid view of the entir island, as well as the adjjoining islands of Levanzo and Marettimo. The c;limb is quite easy and the view well worth it. *Unfortunately the building itsel, a former observation post, has been abandoned and it is risky to enter the strucure as it is, leterally falling apart.Written 28 September 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ghibesanWashington DC, DC226 contributionsLovely structure and grounds to walk around. You can enter the church, and the living quarters freely. You can also visit very small remnants of the monastery that was there before they built the current structure. There is a small children's park run by the town on the grounds, as well as a sculpture garden. Grab some Pane Condito at the panificio on your way in from Bronte and have yourself a picnic.Written 27 August 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Paloma 😊 WandererSydney, Australia133 contributionsThis was an amazing place to get a real feel of the life the Sicilian nobles lived. The online guide room-by-room was informative and just the right length. If I compare it to Versailles I have to say it was way ahead!!! Informative and not overwhelming.Written 9 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- SunriseSkiSingapore1,063 contributionsThis castle build on the top of a huge long rock, with several rooms carved into the stone is spectacular! Tickets are sold at the Bar Castello just before you walk up. The rooms are connected like bubbles and narrow stairs take you to the very top, which is like a long terrace with wonderful views all aground and down to the village. There is also a small museum in a cave where they exhibit different utensils the people in the area used to farm and more. We much enjoyed this authentic place.Written 20 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
