You can walk all the way around him and see the slingshot thrown over his shoulder, the pin in his right hand where his right arm was repaired centuries ago and 5 partial Michelangelo statures unfinished, that show he felt the form was contained in the marble. - silverbrookLondon, Canada4,881 contributionsThe Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale or National Central Library of Florence is just that - a library. To enter during most hours you have to have a specific card that I expect only residents of Florence can apply for and obtain. For a couple of hours on Saturdays you may be able to book a tour, but it may be in mostly Italian depending on who the guide is. At one time, the library held a copy of every book published in Tuscany, but a flood in 1966 damaged approximately 1/3 of the library's collection. Many of these works were saved by the "Mud Angels" a team of volunteers that worked tirelessly to clean and dry all of the damaged works. It is the largest library in Italy and one of the most important in Europe and located along the banks of the Arno river. Unfortunately since we visited during a weekday, we were not able to enter and had to admire the exterior of the building rather than marvel at the works inside.Written 1 February 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.

You needn't worrying being bothered. Wifi in the library is very fast and steady. It feels a lot like NYC’s Port Authority bus station, but with a long forced walk through luxury duty free shops to get to the passenger area. The passenger area itself is small (maybe some of those shops could be repurposed?), and very much like a bus station, especially since the gates do not take you to the planes but rather to shuttle buses to the planes. - Vukica J6 contributionsThe property is good value for money, a bit dated and basic, but clean with friendly, helpful stuff. It is a walking distance from tourist landmarks. It is located in residence area with many great restaurants with great Italian food.
Very expensive parking for cars in the neighborhood. Not only the man was very friendly, he could speak English and French fluently (which is not the case everywhere in touristic places in Florence). He also gave us a free guide of Florence for children in English of very good quality, and a map only for kids! - Freda JVancouver, Canada21 contributionsAs an earlier reviewer said, this library takes effort to get into - in fact, it may be impossible if you don't speak Italian. Which we don't. When we showed up, the security guards just shook their heads at us and waved us away. Luckily for us, there was an Italian fellow outside the door, having a cigarette, and he asked us what we wanted. When we told him we wanted to see the library, he took us back in, spoke to the guards at length, and the next thing we knew, we were being issued guest passes. Thank you to our guardian angel. :) The library really is beautiful, of great interest to researchers and historians, I'm sure. I'm so glad we were able to see it.
