Water is clean and the atmosphere was pure holiday.Written 10 September 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- drpeterr23Chester, UK441 contributionsSteep but fantastic walk up from Lugano - views open out superbly. Continue to top and then on to Morcote but path down is stepped at the endWritten 18 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- StanOPCanton of Zurich, Switzerland57 contributionsGreat views, nice not very long or challenging hike, pleasant drink at the top and a quick ride down with the cable car.
Can also drive nearly all the way to the top.Written 10 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - saronicZurich, Switzerland22,325 contributionsThe front of the former monastic church Santa Maria degli Angioli (often written as 'degli Angeli') looks very modest, but once inside one is immediately taken over by a big fresco in front, depicting the Passion and Crucifixion of Jesus. It is the main sight in here and probably the top attraction in all of Lugano from the point of view of art.
The fresco is a late in life creation by Bernardino Luini, a Lombard High Renaissance painter in the times of Leonardo da Vinci and Raphael, of whom is also said that he instigated the discovery of Amaretto, when working at Saronno. Very typical of his work are the elongated eyes of the females, he depicted.
Behind the church has been restored and opened up lately the former cloister of the former Franciscan monastery, to which the building belonged. On top of arches several remains of frescoes can be seen.Written 5 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Nelda68Genève90 contributionsHave a lunch or cake / gelato at Vanini or head to the nearby Munger patisserie
Enjoy a drink in the evening in the several businessesWritten 6 July 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Stef3 contributionsA good place to stay. Especially for the swimming pool. And great for kids.
If you are a lake swimmer this is not for you. They don't allow you to go outside the surveilled area or you can't come back in.Written 17 August 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - KathinatedDunfermline, UK680 contributionsWe took the boat across the lake from Lucerne and walked back along this delightful pathway. Some rough ground but we saw people with prams. Beautiful views of the lake.Written 10 September 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Aragorn65London, UK1,134 contributionsThis church is on the way to the city centre if you coming from the train station. You can rest there, specially in the summer months, when it’s very hot outside. You will find a stained glass windows with many beautiful altars. Outside, you will have a view for a lake and old town. Worth visiting!Written 13 August 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- r0landbrunnerZurich, Switzerland1,716 contributionsa cute little place on the lake, steep cobblestone ways to walk, a boat stop, some restaurants... and lots of tourists for visit. but yes, it is worth it. there is also a direct bus from Lugano and a walkway along the lake to get here and/or back.Written 22 November 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Petra WBasel, Switzerland2 contributionsWe loved it! Great place, wonderful views, good atmosphere and a nice swim. Friendly staff , nice lunches!
The water is clear but deep, so I would not recommend for very small children.
But for those who are able to swim - great!Written 13 August 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - floflo5896Binningen, Switzerland125 contributionsDon't miss the exceptional photography exhibit at MASI from Thomas Walther from the Museum of Modern Art NY.Written 2 June 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- MandyAndMark_13Adelaide, Australia58 contributionsVisited at lunch time on a rainy day in Lugano. Disappointed with the dining options - could only sit upstairs in the smoking area at lunchtime as the bar / cafe downstairs was closed. The casino has undergone recent renovations but it was just full of poker machines. You had to show ID to get in and were issued with a plastic card to use in the machines. We didn't bother and only stayed about 20 mins.Written 23 November 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Michael K741 contributionsWe found this church on the map but didn't realize how beautiful it is until we walked in. A mass was in progress with the curious thing that men sat on the right side and women sat on the left side, even for a family. We loved the church so much, we left and came back later when the mass was over. For a little church, this is gorgeous. One interesting thing about the cupola. The windows facing south are real, but the windows facing north are fake and just painted on to make it look symmetrical. This church was well worth the time and effort for a visit.Written 6 June 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Manuela LLuxembourg City, Luxembourg7,086 contributionsChiesa San Carlo Borromeo is nice church, construction in 1640 -1642 is classic style and dedicated to Sant Charles, merit a visit.Written 14 November 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- 845JennyFRomsey, UK78 contributionsThis small free museum has excellent displays of local wildlife and local fossils and geology. A particular highlight for me were the marine reptile fossils, and my husband was much taken with the globe that displays all sorts of information, from sea temperatures to aircraft movements. There's also a splendid small display about wasps.
You need to check the opening hours before you go - it's shut at lunchtime and on Sunday and Monday.
And you need to read Italian or be happy just to look.Written 7 October 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
