Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We booked the full experience. Which included an insight into the house prior to looking round. The house was very interesting., it gave an insight into how the family lived in hiding and how they relied completely on their helpers.

The house was very moving and made me wonder why this could have happened and how hard it must have been for the family during the time they spent in hiding. The book in the bookshop Anne Frank house has the whole history and has loads of information relating to the house and the rooms within it. I purchased this from the gift shop on the way out and found it very helpful to confirm my understanding.

The Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam is absolutely brilliant. It offers an intimate look at Van Gogh’s life and work, displaying his most iconic pieces alongside lesser-known gems. The layout is thoughtful, guiding you through his artistic journey and personal struggles. Seeing his bold brushstrokes and vibrant colours up close is truly inspiring. The museum is well-organised, not too overwhelming, and the audio guide adds fascinating context. A must-visit for art lovers and anyone curious about one of history’s most remarkable painters.

As a long time art fan, it has been shamefull that I have reached 60 before visiting Amsterdam. We spent three hours in here and even that wasn't long enough. The staff were very helpful when we had a minor medical issue. First class.

Took a stool down this district.
    Lots of bars and nightlife.
Pavements are very uneven so need to take care. Bike fly by too.
No photos taken in this area, not permitted.
Worth a visit as very lively. Plenty of choice of shops to purchase good from.
    Vendors very friendly.

Took a long stroll around the canals and streets. Delighting in the old architecture of the district with the original canal buildings and quirky museums. Very interesting.

This park is perfect to include in a lazy day. Take it easy and have a walk through or a picnic. It is a huge park, so many neat spots to rest.

This was the first museum I visited in Amsterdam. It's interesting to learn the history and it's a good combination of seeing the living quarters of a wealthy Dutch family along with the hidden church. The audio guide tour is good. Although I enjoyed the museum and it only takes about an hour to go through, I would consider skipping it if you are short on time here in Amsterdam.

Fantastic, classical building. Well organized and easy to get around. Connects with the tram system right outside. In the heart of the city, it's a great location to start your walk around the sights of Amsterdam.

Visited this brilliant museum dedicated to the brave, resilient and courageous Dutch people during the Nazi occupation in WW2.
It’s on the edge of the city, cafes and bars around for drink or food.
Allow at least 2 hours if you want to see and appreciate the true stories being shared. An audio system in various languages is provided with the ticket price, also there are books available for purchase. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Happy to recommend and should we return to Amsterdam would pay another visit.

After arriving from the airport into Central R.R. Station, we exited and rounded the corner of the building in search of a tram to our hotel and encountered this huge open square bounded on one side by the station and inner harbor wharfs, on another by De Bijenkorf Department Store (easily recognizable by its beehive shaped dome on top), on others by hotels, cafes, sandwich shops, and private buildings.

The square was bustling with traffic including trams, buses, cars, people on bicycles, and walkers. There was activity everywhere which elicited excitement on our part. This is the place to be to pick up a bite to eat from street vendors including the “famous” French fries with mayonnaise sauce, listen to buskers imparting both instrumental and vocal music, and just watching people who are in somber black and grey (popular with Europeans), the favorite bright orange (color de jour for Netherlanders), or other day glow colors.

Dam square is the center of everything in Amsterdam and all public transport either starts, terminates, or runs through the square. It’s the place to start your excursion through Amsterdam whether it be on land or water.

It's a street market with plenty of colour, plenty of buzz, and worth a walk up and down. Make sure, if you buy something, you get charged the correct price !

The Royal Palace Amsterdam is about a 20 minute walk from where our cruise ship docked. We were able to get in without booking tickets on line, it wasn’t crowded. Price was reasonable, 25 euros total for 2 adults. Audio guides are free in many languages, and are interesting The rooms on the tour are very well preserved. An hour is enough to see the tour.

A little off the beaten track but well worth a visit.. the windmill was short walk from the Osdorp tram stop, but we saw Chickens, Horses and Shetland Ponys on the way.
The Windmill itself was very interesting, and the lovely Olaf, gave us a great guided tour, including the history of Windmill design, their change of use, signalling, Rembrandts connection with them, why they are still needed today, and how they help to save Amsterdam from flooding.
We were also taken out onto the deck to see how they turn the sails, and witnessed a quick dash to release them from spinning too fast while a storm was approaching!
We also went up into all 5 floors, to see the crank and cogs turning the water wheel, the wheel itself, (I won’t spoil the surprise), and the top part of the roof, which turns the sails to face the wind…
They were very friendly people, and the gift shop was very reasonably priced.
